Clearing up confusion about Event Marking Applicators
Posted 2024-09-20 05:35:07 #1279015 With new lunar applicator markings and their combos, I noticed a potential source of confusion with how to get specific markings from. For example: i see a lot of people buying old Luna Marking Applicator, not knowing they cannot get Luna Cracks from it. Same with the Fayre event applictors: I'm sure there was a lot of people who bought Merged Marking Applicator in hopes of applying Merged Freckles marking. I thought about two solutions for this problem: Solution A: Adding an additional "Included Markings" tab in the Item Catalogue It would work similarly to the small tab telling us the shop we can purchase given item in-game. It would contain a list of markings that you can apply via this given Marking Applicator. It shouldn't require much work, and would definitely help a lot of people who joined after the markings were released, because searching through news posts every time you want to purchase a Marking Applicator is not something a lot of people do, and is tedious to say the least. Solution B: Adding all available marking shapes to the specific color marking applicator It's more complicated, but basically it would allow people to apply, for example, Merged Freckles via both Freckles Marking Applicator as well as Merged Marking Applicator. It would also mean swapping out old Lunar applicators for the new ones, instead of having, for example, two Selene Marking Applicators. Out of the two, Solution A is definitely more realistic, although I would argue a lot of people would be in favour of replacing old Lunar applicator with the new ones that provide 8 markings instead of 4. However, giving players some kind of reference point as to from where they can obtain a specific Marking they have in mind would be great already!	canaridante #129558

Yes please - at least list the applicable shapes in the description of the marking!

I usually decide what to apply by seeing what applicators I have and then going to Wardrobe and testing the markings. But without any intuitive way to tell, if I just have the old Luna applicator for example, I won't know what is available from all of the "Luna" marks.

Heavily in favor, though I think it's too late now to change these applicators, since people already paid a different price for the new ones. And may not even have bought the new ones at all if they still had old ones in their hoard. If it got changed now, I'd have bought apps for no reason myself which would be upsetting.

But I think it's vital that it be clear from the app description what they contain. And if we could avoid this confusion entirely with future apps, that'd also be great. I feel the additional apps just needlessly confused things.

It has come to my attention that there are new app items with Unfolded prefix and I was wondering about the difference between these items:

Learning that the new apps are just an extended version of the old ones, I found this implementation unnecessarily complicated. Even though I like items being rarer and more valuable, I'd like to have simply the old apps updated rather than making a new type of items. But it looks like too late since some players have already paid for them for increased price so the only option could be changing the description to include which markings are available with the apps.

@Dżanek that's what I'm thinking too. Description Change would be very helpful to avoid it getting super messy, similar like on Lioden where there is the same confusion.

Tbh I'd be thrilled if for future Combo markings they just don't add new unfolded apps anymore. Let Selene and Luna be outliers. We shall honor them as the first Lunar Combo-related marking apps.

No need to stick to the decision for future apps. It'd be inconsistent but so much simpler.

But yeah definitely hoping descriptions will get added either way. Can't expect people to remember which app has which markings.
