Petition to Change 1 Fish per 10 Minutes -> 144 Fish per day

Posted 2021-01-30 11:33:04

Support. The time limit honestly struck me as completely arbitrary when there's a cap on how much SC you can get from it anyway... I really don't care about the leaderboards, the only thing I'm playing that game for is SC and items.

I'm a working adult and just... don't have the kind of spare time the fishing game demands to get anything out of it

support! i like the idea of switching into a competitive mode. i really just play to earn a daily 100 sc, but i have rarely been able to hit 100 due to a chaotic schedule, as many others have also stated. i wouldn’t mind being able to play without the 10 minute cool down until you reach the max amount of SC, and then maybe after that it switches to the cool down mode. i assume folks playing after that would be trying to make the leaderboards?

edit: and yes! also support the game holding on to a fish in case of accidental closure of a tab/etc. i had to find out the hard way that this was a thing 💩

Hiya, y'all! I just got back from a busy weekend and not playing this game. I'm so happy to see so many people take interest in my post, and I'm glad people are starting discussions. :3c

I wholly support this!

I catch a lot of fish and having to wait 10 minutes is really annoying, and gives those who start earlier/play more a better advantage to end on the leaderboards. A restriction like this would make it easier for less active players/casual players to get onto the leaderboard. It would be up to whoever catches the best fish and not whoever started catching first/faster. Within an hour you can catch a ton of fish, most of them being small, so I doubt there would be much of a problem or any at all with inflated scores. The rarity of bigger fish would naturally space out the submissions that are heavy, or if this would be a problem, rarity could be increased.

I also think the time limit makes people unnecessarily competitive and causes stress- like people feel they need to be on forever to get on the leaderboard with the really committed players. For me at least, I gave up the idea of ever being on the leaderboards because I am autistic and my attention span is miserable. I tried to get on the leaderboard and it was very stressful and too much to keep up with. So I definitely agree with the exclusion of a time limit.

The limit also causes uncomfortable choices, I've had it to where I cached a nice fish but caught an equally nice fish. The timer forces me to choose one of them, whereas submitting at any time (under the 144 limit) would've (most likely) allowed me to keep both.

Thank you, #16535. The opinions of neurodivergent people will always be valuable to game developers that wish to reach a wide audience.

Support! Like others have said, Im adult, an adult who doesn't have the time to sit around all day trying to catch fish. This game is 16+ I would hope features like games would be tweaked to easily fit into the lives of busy adults.

personally, i do not support this proposal, for the following reasons.

- every aspect of the game is based on time, much like many games you would play on a phone, even, or in other virtual games. if you changed one aspect, you would have to change them all, in my opinion.
- while i understand that not everyone can be on as often as everybody else, i feel like the 1 fish every 10 minutes is rather fair. it’s very unlikely that players will be on 24/7, & even if they are, they’re less likely to only be playing the fish mini game. i think 1 fish every 10 minutes is a fair amount for other players to catch up on the leaderboard & hold their positions. 1 fish every 10 minutes makes it harder for top leaderboard players to keep their position & easier for other players to have a chance to overtake those players.
- being able to submit all fish at once would make it extremely easy for players to cash in everything & just sit at the leaderboard & all they can do is watch if they stay or move down. it takes away from the competitiveness of the game, which is one aspect i personally enjoy.

No support from me.

Echoing #5301's stance on it, but I also personally enjoy the timer, because I can potentially catch a better fish in between and replace it with whatever fish I'm holding for better rewards as I wait it out (I don't play the mini-game much either, just during meals or when I have a hard time sleeping). It feels just as much a part of the game since you are weighing your options on which fish you'd like to submit while waiting or doing other things, and I think the time period is fair.

#5301 I feel as though you forget that weight is what is considered for the leaderboard, not the amount of fish. The competition comes from catching rarer and larger fish, where as a majority of fish caught are 1 pound or less. Turning in 144 5 oz fish for the leaderboard won't be as effective as waiting for 144 5 lb fish, which take time and some skill to catch in comparison. I'm not sure what you mean in the "every aspect of the game is based on time". Of course, there are timers for scouts and things because those take time, but things like territory slots are based on a numerical cap. Generally in browser games and mobile games, there are two things that cap any reward system; time or a numerical limit. We're only asking that we turn to a numerical limit given that not everyone feels that the timer is fair because a large chunk of the user base are adults that don't have the time to sit and reach the 100 sc cap with the 10 minute timer. If anything, I can only see this *increasing* competition, as it becomes less about getting up early and spending the most time on the website, and more about making sure you're only submitting the heaviest fish, which again, are rarer in comparison to a 1 lb or less fish.

@21992 - i didn’t forget that weight is what is considered for the leaderboard. in either instance, you’re waiting for the heavier fish. you don’t have to submit the first fish you get in waiting the 10 minutes, you can either hold it & find something better or submit it. i just personally feel that the timer is fairer. & yes, i was talking about scouts, herbalists, energy, & hunters going on a timer.
