Petition to Change 1 Fish per 10 Minutes -> 144 Fish per day

#5301 And the scouts etc, make sense for the timer- those things take time to do. But selling on the TC or the Raccoon don't have timers. Since submitting a fish is more akin to selling, it doesn't make as much since to put a timer on it, but it does make since to put a numerical cap onto it the way we do with the Raccoon. I'm not sure how the timer feels fairer when players who want to participate in the competition but have limited opportunities to do so can't achieve the leaderboard, even temporarily, with the current system. As someone who *is* on almost all day, even I struggle with catching heavy enough fish to get to the leaderboard. Which is fine! The luck of the catch is part of the game- but restricting players with a numerical cap, rng, *and* a timer all feels a tad bit excessive. |

i feel that the 10 minute timer completely gives leeway to move up in leaderboard, if that’s what you’re going for, & to get the full 100 sc each day & to get delicate meat from it as well. people are oftentimes able to take a little break, even just for a few minutes, within the day. spread out breaks between the day & having only 10 minute timers for the fishing game allow for plenty of opportunities. this previous ro i finished on top & got the full 100 sc plus the 50 sc for being on top solely through this method of taking breaks throughout the day for the fishing game. i understand that this is not plausible for everybody, but i made the 100 sc within the first few breaks i took. yes, rng does play a big part in it, but it’s also a majority of what wolvden seems to be based on. herbalists that forage won’t bring back the same herbs every time or what you’re looking for on demand, scouts that rescout certain biomes aren’t going to bring back the same items every time, your lead exploring has an rng’d chance for every encounter they find, as well as when battling. yes, rng can be disheartening, but 10 minute timers make up for that, imo. plus, holding onto a low weight fish instead of submitting it right away is a valid way to get heavier fish. i feel like the timer would be excessive if you had to wait 10 minutes after every fish you get, which is why i feel like it’s within reason. but like i said, i get where you’re coming from, & this is all just solely my own opinion. |

Regarding leaderboards, rewards are relatively low compared to other ways of gaining SC (questing, raccoon shop, fishing SC cap) and definitely low to make up for the time put into it. This means spending time just to get the highest on the leaderboard is totally not worth the rewards. Insanely high scores you see on leaderboards is mainly based on the player's determination. If you find it difficult to reach daily leaderboards just by seeing it: |

#24018 I appreciate the advice, but as a lore player, a new biome doesn't at current suit me. Most casual players with busy lives also aren't likely interested in going through the hassle in moving their pack. This advice *does work* for people who can afford to do it, and for people with the time to bother with doing so, but I feel as though it does again ignore the fact that there are people who want to enjoy the site without feeling backed into a corner, unable to enjoy the mini games because they don't have the schedule or playstyle that suits it. |

I fully agree with Goose. Moving your entire pack is NOT a solution. Outside of the starter biomes, it is much more difficult to hunt & maintain a pack which isn't feasible for everyone OR people don't want to live in say the Desert just for a fishing minigame. No one should have to move to a different biome just to play the minigame, it's supposed to fair for everyone no matter where you live. It does strongly feel to me, as Goose said, that this is favoring a certain amount of players & leaving the rest of us out. I fail to see how a 10-minute timer is fair whatsoever. The timer allows you to submit a max of 6 fish per hour, however, most people aren't going to be submitting 6 fish as it'll most likely be around 3. This is because of how time this game actually takes due to: the time it takes to wait for fish to spawn, the time it takes to actually catch the fish, not missing any ripples in the water, not accidentally closing the tab/window, the time it takes to judge whether to keep it or not (not all legendaries nor rarer fish net you weight after all! you have to decide between rarity or weight!) & the time you have to wait out RNG to actually give you something worthwhile. If you're actually submitting 6 fish every single hour, you're most likely spending that entire hour fishing. I shouldn't have to spend my entire day to hit the SC cap. The SC cap is literally 100SC and the only food you're getting is delicate meats from rarer fish (which are only 1 use which... isn't much) so this is a lot of work & time for something that ain't much. I'd much prefer to be able to come on, fish whatever I can, and leave. Currently, each player already has a cap of 144 fish (if you submit every 10 minutes of the entire day) which gives players plenty of time to catch fish whenever and as much as they please. If you only want the SC cap, you can fish to that & then leave, with fish submissions left over. If you want on the leaderboards, you have 144 submissions you spend the entire day as you please. No one's going to spam 144 fish submissions just to get on the leaderboard within 15 minutes lol You'll still take your time to fish appropriately for the competition & in fact, you might actually spend more time fishing for better fish overall simply because you aren't being pressed to get a submission in every 10 minutes to max out of your weight for the day. I also feel like that's way less stressful on players who are competing simply because they don't have to stress out about checking Wolvden every. 10. minutes. Instead, they can fish as they please. |

Some wonderful and well-articulated points from #18989. <3 I completely agree. |

I'm glad you guys agree! I also thought more about the suggestion of casual vs competitive and I think that can be done easily without using two whole separate game modes! I would prefer without this but I figured I'd toss my two cents into it anyways. Of course, I don't code video games, so whether how simple/functional this is, that would be up to devs but here's my idea anyway: Where the submit button is, turn that into two buttons: one says Keep & one says Submit. The "Keep" button would allow you to submit that fish for SC / Delicate meats only. The "Submit" button would allow you to submit that fish for SC / Delicate meat / Leaderboard. The "Submit" button would have a cooldown of 10 minutes as is the system right now while the "Keep" button would simply run out after you gained 100SC/total catch cap. This way, casual and competitive players can still play as they want with two game modes! |

So you'd still have the 144 fish cap with that idea as well as the SC cap? I think that sounds great, personally, for people who are concerned about the competition aspect. |
