Discussion: Feeding & Care Changes

I like this, but just as a little addendum, maybe the wolves can play and tussle without the need for toys? Perhaps even mated pairs being able to play with each other?

Love all these suggestions, but I do wish we had an option to play with wolves without amusement items. Maybe not to 100% but maybe 10 or 20%

"Rationing" doesn't sound good to me because it brings to mind wartime food rationing where everyone's food consumption is restricted. I don't want to ration my wolves' food; everyone can eat until they're fully full.

This all sounds great to me. Even as a FAPA user I sometimes just... forget. LOL.

I really need to keep rationing and be able to select how many uses for which wolf. I hardly ever have food so if I feed the first of my wolves what food I have everyday then the bottom of the line will never get fed

Honestly that all sounds great. The only reason I've never bought that Feed all Play All thing was because I hated that it would randomly select which foods to consume. Having a processing system sounds awesome.

Here's a thought-- just an idea, but what if eating from carcasses as opposed to meat chunks gives you a small chance to receive a trophy or play item from that animal? Imagine your wolves ripping into a carcass and grabbing a set of antlers, feathers or claws while they're at it? That way, say you've really been looking for some Elk Antler for the Eternal Slumber crafting background: You could take the effort of eating your Elk Buck Carcasses manually if you want a chance to get them antlers. Might make it a reason to sometimes eat your carcasses manually, without forcing it on people with goodies that are too good to ignore.

Otherwise, why would anyone ever be taught to eat food the regular way? Not sure how difficult that system would be to put into play, but I think it'd be a pretty fun feature. Maybe there are even secret items you can only get this way! Oooo.

Honestly this concept makes me giggle. I'm imagining a line of wolf packs standing in line outside of the racoon's processing plant so they can get their meat all nice and consumable friendly.

As long as we will still be able to feed/play from the wolf page, I'm okay with your idea.

I love to "keep in touch" with all of my wolves by feeding them one by one, seeing their single page everyday at least once. It's part of my play routine and it's a way for me to get attached to them.
So as long as I'm still able to do that, I have no complaints to see the other mechanics introduced.

I really like the idea of processing food and having the chance to get items and trophies.
Maybe you could even introduce a new role (like a "cook" wolf or something with a better name) that will gain a bit of experience for every number of food/toy processed. And the higher the proficiency of that role, the higher could be the chance of getting something from processing

im not a fan of this suggestion if it removes the ability to eat from carcasses and play with amuesment that havent been "processed".

it would make more sense for processing to be a FAPA requirement only, as someone who doesnt use FAPA, id rather just go to my wolves page and feed them carcasses and use toys. i dont want to have to process my food to feed my wolves, im usually in a rush close to rollover to feed/play with my wolves.

That seems like a great idea, feeding/playing is indeed a bit tedious at the moment (I haven't read the rest of the answers, sorry if it's redundant).
Two suggestions/questions:
- I would take into account the fact that not feeding/playing with pups and nursing mothers to 100% has possibly lethal consequences. Checking each pup as a "favorite wolf" then unchecking them at adolescence would be tedious; maybe an account-wide or cave-wide toggle to "always feed/play pups and nursing mothers to 100%"?
- Most toys have crafting uses. I usually leave them with their last use for crafting. Would the new system allow to only turn into toys X uses of each items, or would it effectively give us a choice between crafting with full-use items or using the old manual way?
