Discussion: Clans

I would love to see private forums, discounted studding and custom decor, raffles, and maybe exclusive themed banners, badges, or decor. I do not like the idea of limiting members, to me this is just a more formal system of the communities that already exist, as I said before. I'm also on lioden, and I think the clans there are a little uninteresting, so having a few more community-based features would be nice. |

Other than something along those lines I'm not really into the social aspect alone for clans. They have to be doing something. I'm in a couple on Lioden, but really most of the interaction is limited and not very frequent unless you are in a Discord which I dont care to do. |

I really do hope you guys don't have trouble implementing this in! |

Allow admins/owners of the clans to set a limit on "inactivity" for their members. Also, allow admins/owners to automatically kick members that have permanently suspended or deleted accounts. For example, automatically kick members that have been inactive for 5+ months, or have been banned/deleted their account. This will allow for more member slots to open up and saves on the clan currency that has to be spent on expanding the number of slots. I know that one of the big draws of clans in Lioden is how large of a clan membership you have, so many clan owners might not care to make use of a feature like this, but it would be a benefit for myself. Ideally this feature would be a toggle-able feature where you can choose if you'd like to make use of it or not, and set your own time limit of inactivity. These are the current pros I'd see of this type of feature: 1. Save clan currency from expanding slots and could instead be used for clan raffles/events. 2. Frees up more member slots that can be filled with active members. 3. If a clan message system is implemented, it makes it easier for clan messages to be sent to active members instead of a bunch of dead accounts that haven't rolled in months/years. (It also allows for more active members to receive messages - I've had issues on Lioden where not all members in the clan will receive the clan message because the page has timed out before all members are cycled through) 4. Saves a lot of time for admins/owners that would manually go through and remove inactive members. Cons: 1. Clan members might feel like they're being forced to roll to maintain their place in the clan. This would hopefully be avoided by setting the limit to several months of inactivity. I'd love to hear any criticism or feedback on this idea!! |

It would also be nice for the same inactivity limit applied to owners/admins. This may be hard to implement, but it can be frustrating when an owner leaves the site, and the admins are left with an inactive account listed as owner. Maybe if the owner is kicked for inactivity, one of the admins is automatically designated as "Owner"? However, that might feel like a hostile takeover, and may not be well received. |

I've been in several clans where the clan owner goes inactive for a while and the admins are left trying to keep things going without all of the power they should have. Perhaps instead of automatically choosing an admin to take over, maybe there can be an option for clan owners to select someone that would take over as owner if they've been inactive for a certain amount of time? So then it's the owner's decision who takes over, and understands what decision they are making. It would allow the owners the autonomy to choose who their successor would be, in the event that they can't get online anymore, or they're inactive, and it would make sure the clan doesn't go stagnant or have to be re-created. Or, if that isn't well-received, perhaps there can be an option for 2 owners, or a primary owner and secondary owner, and the secondary (or primary) can decide to remove the other inactive owner to get someone else in, if that makes sense? Then there's always someone to act as backup in case one of the owners goes on hiatus or cannot get on for a long time. |

I say this in response to Michael's clarification; "When proposing this topic, it was more in line with 'social groups' or communities. This would allow you to join multiple groups with a focus on different activities, interests, or subjects. For example: art/artists, breeding projects, roleplaying, specific play styles, or just a place for a group of friends to hang out together on the site." |
