A Leader's Questions...

Posted 2022-01-29 18:05:36
Brook was surprised by the loud bark coming from the wolf. Her ears flickered at the sound yet simply huffed in amusement. "Us Spirit Walkers follow the Arcana, those who have no blood of the Major Arcana are called the Minor blooded. Depending on what time and what weather they were born on they are assigned a role, for each of the minor arcana has a element. The Cups are our puppysitters, they represent water and thus they were born during the rain. Rods are hunters, born during heat, Swords are the scouts, born during windy days, and lastly there's the Pentacles." She pauses taking a deep breath, "The Pentacles are those who have shown their worth to the pack and are retired, they are earth but anyone can enter the pentacles.
In simpler terms, the role you obtain is the one you were born with, you cannot change it." She explains.

Brook's olive eyes dart around, finally focusing at a wolf. "Us Spirit Walkers have a sort of code from generations before us that we have always followed. Does your pack have any sort of code you live by, granted by ancestors?"

Ophelia stepped lightly towards the wolf, taking a deep breath of all the smell of wolves around her, some new and some...old. She took a seat in front of the wolf, and let out a hearty chuckle. "We have a thing called the Test of Abilities, its to decide what congregation young pups will belong in when they are older, based off of their magical abilities or general skills. While it is not a code per say...it is a system that has worked in the Cohort for many years."

She twitched her eyes, thinking for a second. "Our Knights of the Forest have an ancient code passed on by ancestors I suppose...they work with the ancient magic that comes from the soul of the forest, and these practices are passed down from generation to generation throughout this congregation."

She silenced herself for a minute, thinking of a question. "Does your pack also have a council? We have one, with three wolves from each congregation that make up the Moon Council."

Undercurrent's Wing flicked lazily her ear at the question, looking bored. "Nah, we don't have that. We're basically a big pack of family, friends and refugees. I'm the leader, sure, but every big group needs one, obviously."
She yawned, then nodded at a nearby wolf: "What's your attitude towards outside wolves? Do you let them in if there's space or do you turn them away even if there is space for them?"

тундра (Tundra) Looked around at the leaders around her, she crunched the grass under her paws and answered nervously, "well we usually leave them alone, if their in need I will always help a wolf in need, so long as we have the resources, but urm if they have a nice look I suppose we can let them stay.." she paused and barked a laugh, "I mean if my pack wants them to join then they may stay, we make our choices together." She sat up with a justified look and turned to the next leader "what do you do when you have aging up wolves but no space, what do you do If your desperate to keep them I mean?.." she gazed calmly waiting for a response

Aster sniffed and shifted positions as she thought on her answer. "Pups are rare in the pack so it's rare we run out of room. But Usually we let them run, and hope a space clears up sometime soon, if not, then i use the pack funds to pay for more territory to be cleared out. Then we send an adult off to go bring them back home. Personally, i think the time alone as a new young adult does them some good. Good for some self finding and self reflection."

She turned to the next wolf in line. "What are your thoughts about what happened during the time when the lights came and new animals started appearing?"

AshStar sniffed disdainfully at the question, then nodded to his deputy, Hailclaw, who replied: "I don't remember it well, we were so confused then, but I personally terrified of this spirit she-wolf who made wolves disappear." He shuddered, glanced at his leader, who was looking bored, and then asked at the wolf to his right: "Do you let traumatized wolves be in some grade of charge in your pack?" "No offense, AshStar." He added quickly to his leader, who was staring at him. He knew he was going to get snarled at back in their pack, but he meant no harm.

The aging leader tilted her head at the deputy's question, confused by what he meant, before shrugging.

"I'm not entirely sure what you mean by trauma, but my packmates have all had their own share of tragedy in their lives. I have no doubt my successor will be traumatized when I pass, when they have to take on this," she moved slightly, shifting her wings and sending a few lunar-borne dust in the air, "appearance, and grow their own set of wings. Not to mention my hunters who have lost their teammates during hunts."

As she ended her answer, the elderly female sighed, blinking slowly, tiredly, towards the next speaker.

"And you," Cascadestar began, "have you or anyone in your pack ever been touched by otherworldly places, such as the lunar world, and obtained strange traits?"

For clarification, she spread her wings and shook her head slightly, the glowing trendils waving gently in response.

((In short: do you have any wolves with decorations that add traits or such, like Cascade's tendrils, or event markings))

Despite having just recently gone, Aster was excited to share her answer. Looking around and seeing that no new wolves had shown up yet, she figured it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and answer their question.

"Yes we do actually! One of our very first studs, he loved to explore the lunar world and eventually after a while, his fur changed color to a bright blue. The stud after him was a wolf from the lunar world. He wanted to learn more about this world so left his home. He had glowing tendrils and spots on him. However we have had a pack mate get trapped in the dream world. We aren't sure where he is, but for now, I have limited all of my packs contact with the lunar land. For their own safety."

She paused as she thought about any more wolves in the pack.

"Ah and there's Grim, their grandson. Something happened to him when the strange lights came. He found himself in an entirely new land. By a miracle, He was somehow able to find his way back home after years of traveling. Now, All of his pups have striking green fur but it's hard to tell how far his fur has been changed because he's a melanistic wolf.

After having said her piece, she pondered on a potential question.
"What is your packs ancient history?"

(Lore I guess haha)

"Well," AlbatrossStar replied, "if by ancient you mean three suncircles old, then I'll tell ye!" He said happily.
"I founded my Clan after meeting Tala three suncircles ago, appointed my first deputy and a medicine wolf and got to work. We have a special naming system, as you can see if you come and visit us someday. We met another Pack/Clan  that had our beliefs and helped us. Flamefeather, our first deputy died, and now we have Minnowbite!" As he talked, his eyes had taken a thougtful look, but at this last sentence, they shone with pride as he looked at his second in command. "And, well, that's about it, for now."
He looked around, and saw a wolf that had finished drinking from a pond and whose muzzle was dripping water. "You over there! How do you get water in the cold season when the ponds, rivers and rivers are frozen with ice?"

Three Suncircles? If that's ancient, than what does that make our pack of 12 Suncircles?, thought Fallen Sun, before she was adressed by the one who spoke before.
Stepping foward to be visible during the speech, the female wolf spoke up:
"Interasting question, fellow Leader. You see, we happen to have a way of storing water by making baskets from what is usually used as Cave Material. These were usually used for storing other items, but our Second Herbalist revolutionized the making of these and thus continued his Mentor's Craft. Second, we use the left-over Rocks from the Cave Material to break the ice in order to collect water."
Sighing and taking in a long, deep breath, the Selene-touched Leader shook out her fur before directing an inquiry of her own to the next one willing to reply:
"Do you have a manner in which you store the history of your pack? Or do you leave it to the will of tongue to fade slowly into myths and legends?"
With that, Fallen Sun withdrew from the view of the many, simply awaiting the answer and listening to the tales as this game continued, collecting information.
