Deaf Wolves Should Have Any Role

honestly, as a hard of hearing person, i'd be happy having a deaf or blind wolf fulfill roles at a lower chance of success or higher rate of injury.

(if queer and transgender wolves are embraced so openly in the game, other marginalised communities should be given the same consideration - I say this as a queer & trans person).

Definitely! That's a good idea! Blindness and deafness are disabilities after all,Β  so it would make complete sense for blind and deaf wolves to be disadvantaged, which I think is an infinitely better way to handle disability representation rather than to block them off from fulfilling any role.

Something that I think is extremely important is the affect this feature is unintentionally having on the perception of disabled people:

Blind/deaf wolves being essentially entirely useless makes them undesirable to players, and this creates the perception that disabled people are undesired burdens. Small things like this are exactly what builds up to stereotypes and prejudice against marginalised groups.

This is documented and studied and yes, it absolutely begins with people scoffing at those advocating for it and saying "it's just an online wolf game, it's not that deep." But it is that deep, because creating a subconscious bias by having unrealistic and insensitive representation in a popular piece of media is where prejudice begins.
Blind and deaf puppies are frequently enclaved, given away for free, or put up in low/refunded trades. They are unwanted because they cannot help further the player's progress in the game. The message that sends to everybody playing the game, whether blind/HoH or not, is awful
