First of all, the guides that already exist are great, I've used them when I first started and had some great and valuable info. I love the fishing game so much, that to me Wolvden is more about the fish than the wolves... I care like 80% about the fishing and 20% about the wolf stuff, so I'm really thankful for the fishing guides that helped me when I started. Once said that, I've collected some info that is not on those guides, specially concerning the Weekly Leaderboards -which I find really important. Also, I've found some inaccuracies on those guides, basically because of 2 things: a) The well known bug of fish of the wrong size (in case you don't know, sometimes the servers get confused and put the size of a big fish on a smaller type of fish, resulting in tadpoles of several pounds, which is a bug, and it seems to be impossible to fix), so sometimes these guides have a fish that has a maximum size of XX Lb when in reality it's not. b) Many people has collaborated on those guides so it's hard to control all the info, specially when there's no evidence of the submitted info so we could clarify discrepancies. Finally, maybe there's some guide that already has all this information that I have and I haven't seen it. In that case, well, besides of looking stupid posting all of this, it would mean that I worked a lot in info that wasn't needed, but on the plus side, I had a lot of fun doing it, so no regrets :). Besides the regular name, type and biome, this guide attempts to solve the following questions: a) What's the maximum size of each type of fish? b) What's the minimum size of each type of fish in order to compete for the Weekly Leaderboard award? a) we have to assume that it's a rounded number (the maximum size of some type of fish won't be something like "23 lb 13.6 oz", but it rather will be "24 lb") b) we get fish as close to its 50% as possible and based on evidence (log entries) if either gives delicate meat or not, we find the closest rounded maximum size. c) Since the day I joined Wolvden (July 2022) I've kept a database of every Weekly Leaderboard winner size, then I use this info (the maximum and the variation between them) to inform the guess work, dismissing those cases when the "wrong fish size" bug attacked. 2) To find the minimum size of each type of fish in order to compete for the Weekly Leaderboard award: a) Since the day I joined Wolvden (July 2022) I've kept a database of every Weekly Leaderboard winner size, so I can tell you what has been the minimum size of each type of fish to win in the last few months b) Also, I'll tell you what's been the minimum size in 2/3 of the times since July c) Also, I'll tell you what's the average size of all the winners, not counting the lower value. Obviously you still have to check if there's already a bigger fish submitted this week, and obviously there's a chance that this is the week that sets a new minimum record, but this info surely can help you to decide either if you want to submit the fish you just caught or not. (Tip: this guide is more useful at the beginning of each week, rather than at the end of it). I'm assuming fish only can have a maximum size of the following list: In case there's a weird fish that has a maximum size not included in this list, I'll wait to find evidence of it (i.e. delicate meat logs) in order to adjust the list To begin with, I don't consider the Weekly Leaderboards (or the "maximum fish ever caught") as evidence, because of the Wrong Size Fish bug. While I don't know for sure if or how this bug affects the delicate meat, I'm more confident in using the delicate meat information to accurately determine the 50% of the maximum size, therefore knowing the maximum size of each type of fish. However, I do use the Weekly Leaderboard records to help in cases where I don't have enough delicate meat logs (specially in the Legendary and Rare fish cases). So, besides using the maximum fish caught since July to determine "the maximum possible fish size", I do this other thing: a) I take the maximum winner of the Weekly Leaderboards since July ( a ) b) I take the number of weeks since July ( n ) and divide it by 3 ( m = n/3 ). Then, I find the "m" minimum Weekly Leaderboard winner since July ( b ) [example: 12 weeks since I started keeping record of Weekly Leaderboards, so n = 12 m = n/3 = 12/3 = 4 m = 4 so I take the 4th minimum Weekly Leaderboard Winner and that's number "b"] c) I get the difference between the maximum fish registered and the "m" minimum fish ( c = a - b ) d) I add that difference to the maximum fish registered ( d = a + c ) e) Based on the Weekly Leaderboard records, the maximum size of each type of fish should be between "A" and "D". Here's the guide by biomes. Here's listed the minimum size that has won the Weekly Leaderboard since July 2022, the minimum size that has won the Weekly Leaderboard 2 out of 3 times since July, and the average weight of the winners (except the lowest value). There's also the maximum weight of each type of fish based on the evidence I have. You can check the color guide to understand it better. And here's the guide with the maximum possible size of each type of fish with the evidence to support it and the "instructions" in case you want to help with it Here's the color code for the variation of the maximum possible size: And here's the color code for the evidence I have for the 50% weight of each type of fish: For those fishes with the evidence line in color blue, here's the screenshot I have: Hopefully this guide will be useful. If you have any questions, I'll try to help. If you want to contribute, check what are the weights that we need for each fish and if you have logs of them, please submit them. Cheers! |

I'm also interested in fishing and dedicate myself to data collecting. I mainly focus on delicate meat weight, because I have neither data from others nor means to collect weight data from weekly boards, so all of my data comes from my own haul. I have had some data that can replace other fishing guides. I'm very interested in helping out your project. My goal is also to catch all fish in all biomes(not the biggest one part bc I don't have that much of time lol), and secure delicate meat of every fish kind. I see that you are afk now since it was back at January when you were last online. But if one day you decide to pick your project up again and see this reply, please contact me and let me know what I can help! |
