Disclaimer: This data is based on percentage of random mutations in wolves overall. To find a true rate at which random mutations are bred, the data must cover bred wolves only. This covers all wolves in randomly selected packs. This is also a small sample size and needs further data to be truly solid.

Hello all! I am doing a project and, for funsies, I wanted to see close to the likelihood that I could possibly breed a random mutation. So, I used the event gifting random pack thing to get shown a random pack 100 times and recorded the random mutations I saw. Here is what the data showed:
  • Out of 100 packs, only 2 had 1 wolf with a random mutation, none had more than one.

  • Wolves surveyed (both adults and pups, excluding immortals unless they had the mutation) were 5081 -- again, only 2 had a random mutation

  • Of the two random muties, neither were adults.

  • One of the muties mothers had average fertility while the other one could not be determined.

Aaaaaaand for those of you more data inclined:
  • As of right now, at any given time there is a 2% chance that your pack will have a wolf with a random mutation, either by breeding or otherwise.

  • The stats say that if you have had 2540.5 wolves in your pack, 1 will have a random mutation.

  • There is not enough evidence to suggest a correlation between the fertility of the mother and the likelihood of random mutation, but this is definitely something that requires further data.

  • Neither of the pups were at risk of death from their mutations. One had spontaneous blindness, while the other did have a lethal mutation but had been immortalized.

  • The average number of wolves in each pack surveyed equals 50.81, the highest number being 704 and the lowest being 1. The median number of wolves in each pack equals 26.5

  • Both packs with the random mutations had a higher than average amount of wolves in their pack, although for one of them it was just barely at 58.

  • Data suggests that 100% of packs with random mutations have a 5 in the number of wolves in the pack.

TL;DR: When looking at any given wolf (bred or otherwise), there is a .04% chance they will have a random mutation.
