FOR GIFTS: other than like the obvious gold cones or MOD's if anyone finds it in their heart to gift those, I would love fox and badger drops, canine claw, fang, and wolf tails (for crafting purposes), glowing spores, opal salt licks, and I really should acquire more marking and leather apps as well as cd's for u know whatever.

Running canon for The Pack of Rabbits:

Jusinet, once old enough to venture on her own, set her sights on making her own pack after leaving the oppression of the pack she once knew. In her lonely travels to find a new home, she met Poamsnubs. Together, they made the Pack of Rabbits - named so because of how small they both felt in the wide world, and yet how determined they were to stick together in spite of it.

Pack members, like Jusinet once she left, rename themselves upon entering the Pack of Rabbits to build their own lineage of names. When the first litter of pups in the pack was born to Jusinet and her mate Lamani, the precedent began for the surname of the matrilineal descendants of the first Lead were to have the surname "Rabbits", an homage to the origins of the pack. Thus, Dinene and Lansnyst Rabbits were born. Poamsnubs, a founding mother in her own right, began the precedent of surnaming pups based on the name of the first matriarch of that family in the pack -- hers being "Snubs".

Families are very important in the Pack of Rabbits and all of them have their own virtues and attributes. The Rabbits, for example, follow in the footsteps of their leader matriarch and maintain the legacy of justice. The Family Ax, on the other paw, hold firm beliefs in the welcoming of new faces to the pack and are advocates for foreign wolves.

The wolves of the Pack of Rabbits are practitioners of the cultivating of arcana, specifically in the School of the Moon and School of the Wild. Certain conduits that have extra sensitivity and access to these magicks exist, the first for Lunar Magic being Jusinet and for Wild Magic being Lansnyst. Through these conduits, they may access changes to physical and mental forms, changing appearance, personality, and other things not thought possible. These wolves will never claim to have power over the magicks they use, only a borrower of what is already there.

The first double conduit, Earthsky, wielded both Lunar and Wild Magicks and forged a lasting bond between the Pack of Rabbits and the Morrow's Peak Pack. Her new family made up with significant ties to another pack began a pattern of smaller families that are often associated with another pack or with ideas outside of the pack, including:

-Ki, related to the large family Oienan and representing descendants of the Stygian pack

-Morrow, related to the bigger family Earthsky and representing descendants of the Morrow's Peak Pack

-Pinta, an independent family with an affinity for nature

-Kamar, a family of female independence related to the family Snubs

-Wildfire, a family allegedly descendant from the ground itself

-Childer, a small family descendant from the Mysterious Pack--sort of outsiders

-Maer, a small family descendant from Maeirn living on the very edges of the pack with dubious ties to more sinister magicks (ancestral name--Maeirn)

-Cula, a small family descendant from Oli-jo that is known for their gorgeous fur and athleticism

Historical Families:

  • Rabbits - descendants of the original Lead, Jusinet. Known for sense of justice and keep to the motif of the rabbit.
  • Snubs - descendants of 2nd member of pack, Poamsnubs. Known for being catalysts and rebelious.
  • Onan - descendants of Oienan. Known for skills in speed and accurate and truthful messaging as well as honesty in general. (Ancestral name Oienan)
  • Shoosh - descendants of Shoosh. Known for humility and simplicity of names.
  • Navaw - descendants of Naub. Known for being scrappy and protective of pack. (Ancestral name Naub)
  • Ashu - descendants of first female Herbalist, Aksnicue. Known for advocacy of foreign wolves as well as intelligence. (Ancestral name Ax)
  • Earthsky - descendants of the first Cherub of Change, Earthsky. A family that revels in the flow, change, and transition of life.

Precedents:

  • Wolves of the Pack of Rabbits who have no matrilineal surname originating from within the pack will have one name which they give themselves.
  • Wolves who are the first matriarch of their lineage in the Pack of Rabbits may choose the surname to be passed on to their pups, typically related to the matriarch's first name (it is strongly encouraged to leave any previous surname from other packs).
  • No wolf other than the matrilineal descendants of Jusinet the first pack lead may have the surname "Rabbits".
  • Wolves may be named based on how they look or what they do by using real words, but this is rare.
  • Wolves who come from other packs most often rename themselves to include a "-nicue" suffix to their first name as a nod to Aksnicue, the first of the family of Ax who advocate for foreign wolves.
  • Mothers are encouraged to choose at weening of their pups to decide whether they are a fit mother for their offspring or not, even at a pup-by-pup basis. Giving up and accepting trades for pups is not shunned
  • If a wolf has grown out of or away from the Pack of Rabbits but still is appreciative of their support and wishes to support back, they may put themselves "up for trade" either to their chosen pack or any pack that will take them in order for that trade to go toward supporting the Pack of Rabbits.
  • The "Motif of the Rabbit" stands for the weakest of beings who still survive to work together in meekness with others against all odds. Wolves who do not subscribe to the defending of the "Motif of the Rabbit" and protect the "Rabbits" of the world are shunned from the pack.
  • "The School of the Moon" - a school of thought that originates in the ascension of first lead Jusinet to a third-eye being in her meditations toward the moon after an eclipse. This school focuses on the world of the sky and its mysticism, in general holding the night as a sacred time and ascribing importance to the phase of the moon upon birth of a pup. These are visionaries who believe in the power of dreams and prophecy.
  • "The School of the Wild" - a school of thought that originates from the metamorphosis of first Rising Lead Lansnyst Rabbits from the pelt of his birth to a greenish coat with a mossy nose and fey eyes. This school is inspired by Lansnyst's closeness with the wild to the extent that it fundamentally changed him and his looks. It relies on the mysticism of the wild around and holds sacred the changing of seasons and the foretelling of events through the universal language of all life. Wolves of this belief remain in the present moment and use knowledge of the world around them to their advantage while knowing that at any time the wild can easily crush them in its relentless claws.
  • "School of Pups" - a school of thought that developed through the actions of first daughter to Jusinet, Dinene Rabbits. She never intended to have a school of thought or to have really anything that was with her at the forefront at all but ironically this type of thinking is exactly the basis of this school. Dinene celebrated her simplicity compared to her mother and brother and, even though she could have done something more respected as the daughter of Jusinet, chose to train to be an effective pupsitter. This, however, inspired many others to learn to pupsit directly before the whole pack was blessed with a huge wave of puppies, the first to be born after Dinene herself. From this and from being so close with the naivety of puppies, she learned that most things don't really matter as much as many believe. More than anything else, what matters are the connections one makes with the ones around them and the love that is shared between them. As a result, followers of this school have an attitude of doing the least possible in the most deliberate sort of way in order to make time for the things that matter the most in their life, their pack and their family.
  • "Cherubs of Change" - branching from the blessings of the moon, the Cherubs of Change are wolves who follow the teachings of the original Earthsky who earned a special coat due to her non-covetous and childlike disposition. Followers of Change, affectionately called "Cherubs", embrace either change in general or a change going on in their life at the moment. The Cherubs developed many celebrations of leaving the pack, joining the pack, coming of age, changing of sex, and so on! Cherubs, most of all, live life in the slow lane and subscribe to nonaction in all they do.
The Pack of Rabbits has developed to be a very loyal miasma of ideas and characters that grow in the presence of each other, shunning those who don't stand up for the "rabbits" of the world. They welcome you to their territory.
