Starry Hunters
You step into the clearing, taking in the bright, beautiful light. A soft spring breeze whispers in your ear. Shielding your eyes from the little sun that managed to slip through the trees, your gaze falls upon the camp.

Enter the Camp?
At the very front, there is a sign made of wood, and you realize some wolf has clawed it in a way so that it bears the words: Starry Hunters Pack, welcome!
A little beyond that, four tall caves, each with a printed sign you recognize from Raccoon Wares. The one bearing the sign: Sleeping Cavern is nearest to you, and the smallest of the caves. The two scouts, mentors and the herbalist rest there. A little off to the side you see the Hunter Cave, where the hunters (and their pups, if they are yet to be weaned) reside. A wolf with moonglow eyes exits as you watch, urging the members of her hunting party to hurry up--the scent of prey is fading. Further in you see the Apprentice Cave, where all the adolescents of the pack live, and Pup's Den, where the pups and pupsitters of the pack are chatting amiably. You think with excitement you see traces of a hidden cave a behind a dense clump of vegetation, perhaps a sickbay or Mentor cave?
You are lost in thought when you hear a creak behind you. Stiffening, you turn around and see Luna, the Leader of the Starry Hunters, has arrived. She blinks as she registers your presence.
"Are you a lost wolf, seeking shelter? We welcome you. A visitor, perhaps, exploring? A fellow pack leader? Time is short, and we all have places to be." Luna pads into the clearing, then looks back. "Make your choice, and try not to regret it."
Your gaze lingers for a while longer, then you turn away. Luna is right, time is short, and every wolf has a place they need to be. You head off for the place you call home, smiling a little, a sense of peace settling over you.
Luna is dead, you reflect. You almost didn't notice at first, but you can definitely tell, no, you just know that Luna is a ghost. Yet she remains there, with a peaceful and placid expression, flicking her tail playfully at a new pup that has just barrelled into her.
The pup seems to acknowledge her presence, you realize with mild surprise, gone the next moment when you realize that Luna is not the only ghost in the camp.
"Is this a camp of dead wolves?" you blurt out. "Sorry. I mean-"
"Well, you're not dead yet," Luna says lightly, correctly identifying your fear. "This place, however, is home to all wolves of the Starry Hunters pack, past or present, living or dead. The current leader is Ripple. He looks after the living pack, and I will forever take care of the deceased. Did you come with a purpose?"
"Not…not really, no," you admit shyly. "But…now, I'm curious."
"About?" Luna prods.
"How many…ghosts are there? I don't suppose they're all in your Dynasty Records?" you ask quickly.
Luna hums thoughtfully, a low and melodic sound. "No, there are definitely more ghosts than in the records," she says. "For starters, I've only had adults recorded. All of the pups that didn't make it to adulthood are still here, but they're not in the records. Those are expensive to maintain. Only the ones who made it til at least their 7th year are in the official records. I have an unofficial record of every dead wolf who lived to adulthood from the Starry Hunters, though. There'd still be more than that, since we've had new wolves join in from…wherever."
A large female wolf—a ghost, judging by the friendly nod Luna gives her—approaches Luna and you. "A newcomer?" she says, white eyes squinting at you.
"Just passing by," Luna answers for you. "Not dead yet. Ah, yes, this is Tollen. My first packmate to..die. She was the best Chaser of the pack, then, and gave birth to another 4 amazing Chasers, 3 of which have amazing Chaser pups of their own. She was a lot of help with setting up this Ghost Camp too." Luna's gaze snaps to an oak tree with a broad trunk. You notice a lot of names and lines etched on there.
"The Unofficial Dynasty Records," Luna explains, noticing your observation. "Would you like to take a look?"
