Among many of the prairie fields and meadows lies a forever-restless pack, always on the move, to subsist the countless dangers that Mother Nature holds. They don't have a fixed place to call home, well, unless you call a cave gallery that is most of the time floded something like "Oh home, sweet home". It's nothing they haven't seen before, as they use it as a shelter when the weather gets a bit crossed or is too much of a burden, but they've gained affection for the old rusty cavern that was once used as a mineshaft. So they stick with it from time to time when they don't have another option.
They're the so called 'Travellers', by the majority of the nearby packs, as they live out in the open under the clear skies. Day and night. So nobody can be sure where exactly to spot them, if someone was out looking for them specifically.
The pack is divided into three main groups for a better organization between their members, even though they remain together for the most part:
- The "Keepers": These wolves are the ones who take care of the defenseless of the pack; such as pups, elders... Those who need an extra eye or two to remain safe and protected from any possible threat that may appear. That does not mean, however, they're any less valuable for the rest of the pack. It's actually all the way around. The "Pup-watchers" oversight the rambunctious and clumsy pups so they don't get lost in the middle of a "great adventure" as they call it. The herbalist recounts the herbs and organizes them for their trips, also snatching some time to go foraging in the meantime. Or treating any injuries or sickness that a member could have. In a few words, they keep the pack together, also guarding the food and water supplies.
- The "Meadow Lurkers": Providing fresh food for the pack is a daily task, so no wonder they distribute their "hunters" into a brand new category. Adults share their wisdom with apprentices that in the near future, want to be "Meadow Hunters" themselves. The most experienced wolves go to hunt with young apprentices that watch their mentor's best techniques and tricks, rarely being able to intervene. They also divide themselves into hunting parties, so everyone can get along better and the hunt can get more probabilities to be succesful. In times of famine they always put the rest of the pack first, as they have more endurance and resilience for the harsh conditions.
