Amaurotine Ancients
(Note: I have been restructuring my pack to play with fewer wolves for a while, so this lore applies on a smaller scale now. xD)
The Amaurotine Ancients are spiritually aware wolves who walk on multiple planes as easy as taking an afternoon stroll, and as a consequence are not wholly wolves any longer, but creatures who are half-and-half, melded and merged with magic and mythology.
They are quite happy to be this way! They have embraced all the oddity and wonder and even the danger in what they are, and have created a thriving society rich in custom and camaraderie around their differences.
Their ancestors first crossed into the realm of dragons, and that was where their story began, their first and truest alliance formed, and their powers took root and bloomed — but certain wolves of their pack invariably have an unquenchable inborn adventurer's spirit, and so the Amaurotines are always being introduced to and quite eagerly mixing with new varieties of creatures.

The Convocation & Custodians
These twenty-five wolves are those of the pack who hold a variety of ranks and responsibilities. Each name is an inherited title, passed down by their predecessor, earned when they are judged ready to give up their own previous name (removed from memory by a ritual and going forward only known only to those they choose to entrust it to) and step into the mantle of the role they take.
Aside from Azem, Elidibus and Altima (whose duties require otherwise), each Convocation member is paired with a Custodian, their second in command and aide in whatever their work may be. No matter which of the two ranks they belong to, all of these wolves end up working closely together for most of their lives, creating tightly knit bonds of kinship and understanding, and more often than not they end up pair-bonding amongst each other.
The Cherished
The close family and chosen-kin of the leader of the pack and their mate. These wolves may or may not have a particular rank or role within the pack, but they are always well-known and usually respected to a degree by default.
The Community
These wolves are the bulk of the pack; the precious ones, our friends and family, those who must be protected and provided for, who must be guided and guarded.
They are wolves of a variety of colors and kinds, of skills and songs, all with their own stories and minds, and all of them are a joy to love and keep.
The Concepts
Whether born or made, whether originating from those of rank or not, these young wolflings are meant to go out into the world and enrich it.

Titled: Packborn
These wolves were born of the pack, blessed and gifted with a special coat color (or perhaps a mutation) and chosen to be trained and raised for a purpose.
Titled: Aethertouched
These wolves are the leaders; the most powerfully magical members of the pack, so much so that it has created visible effects on their very bodies. They live and breathe a level of pure raw magic — called aether, for its likely divine- or royal-draconic origin — inaccessible to most other wolves and are capable of weaving their power and casting stunning elemental feats with it.
But there are frightening drawbacks to these gifts, if pushed too far. Especially if the Aethertouched do not have foci or an anchor in a pair-bonded mate, or preferably both.
Titled: Dragonpair
These wolves are psychic in myriad ways, and have the inherent mental magical ability it takes to form a soul-deep bond with one of the dragons this pack mingles with.
Titled: Dragonling
As called by the true dragons, these 'dragonling' wolves have a specific type of magical blood in them that has expressed itself in draconic traits. Whether through inheritance or affinity, they have been born with or otherwise acquired permanent dragon features. As a result they have incredible physical abilities and prowess, beyond that of their kith and kin.
Titled: Dragonkin
While obviously not truly related to dragons… Whatever manner of creature these equally mystical and magnificent wolves share blood and power with, they are just as welcome.
