Where does the soul go when a wolf dies?
Their eyes, as they grow dim, flick to the moon. It's a source of light, life for wolves. They idolize it, a holy symbol for the force that drives their entire world. Every wolf in their final moments looks to the moon. And when they die, up to the moon they go. They join her in the sky. They glow forever around her light. They turn into stars.
There is a great river in the Lunar Realm, it glitters and tumbles like diamonds. It shimmers with moonlight, dazzling with stars. The Moonlight River. Down below, on the earth that the moon protects, there is a pack. They move and move, never completely settled in one territory. But they always settle right next to the river. They are The Moonlight River Pack. Their fur is filled with the faint scent of moonlight, a breeze on a full moon night, lifting off a river and drifting by the stars.
