Cavern of Whispers
You have found yourself wandering into the dark, misty abyss of a gaping cave you found, deep into the territory of a pack of wolves. The markings they left smelled weird to you, like petrichor, and wet evergreen. You hear a few growls deep inside the dark depths of the abode, and you wonder if you should turn back. Rushing water soon roars in your ears, and you pad forward, with your hackles up cautiously.
The roar dies down as you venture further, into a damp clearing. Bones litter one area of the clearing to your left, and farther back you can see a yawning hole home to a glowing pair of eyes, and the milky whimpers of pups. A cliff juts forward, and above, you can see the silvery light of the full moon pouring into the hollow. Underneath, water drips, and you are unable to tell how deep the pool beneath it is. Ancient stalactites hang from the scape above.
Before you can observe any more, you see a dark wolf, with snowy fur peaking beneath her darker patches. There is something wrong with her voice when she speaks. It is quiet, and raspy, almost as if she cannot put enough wind behind it.
"Hello, stranger. What brings you to our territory?"
For being swathed in some random den you wandered into, her tone seems rather inviting. Laying next to her, you can see a lighter male. He seems little in comparison to the female, but muscle ripples beneath his thick fur, you are sure. His voice is deeper, and more powerful.
"More so, what welcomed you into our den?"
The silence ensues, and you are forced to simply stand there as these polar opposites breathe you in, and gather what they can. You wonder how long it will drone on, before the smaller male speaks.
"Welcome to our land. We are known amongst ourselves as the Whispering Stone pack. This is my mate, Whisper. Our ancestors did not gift her the strongest howl, but she makes up for it in every other way, like leading our pack. She is the alpha, and I am simply her companion. My name is Ash. Now, what brings you all the way to this neck of the mountains?"
You begin your long, tiresome, winding story in the chilling depths of the den.

i like to make up backstories for the packs i currently have/will own. they might change eventually, or i'll just decide whatever legacy that was currently going on ends, but it's all in good fun for me, and hopefully others find it interesting too!
