Sky Eaters

As you pad through the underbrush here, you notice the grass here has been flattened. The scent of something warm and delicious makes you begin to drool. 

You hear pawsteps behind you. Hackles raising, you whirl around to find yourself muzzle-to-muzzle with a she-wolf. A few wolves follow her lead, tails low to the ground. The she-wolf's eyes narrow in suspicion. You notice in alarm that her muzzle is stained red - until you notice the rabbit hanging from her jaws. "Snooping around in our den, visitor? Don't get too cocky, you don't own the place!"

A sharp pain glances at your pawpad. You yelp in alarm, before delicately raising your front paw to inspect. The deciduous forest floor of the Sky Eaters' territory has - so far - been soft and mossy, but below your paw is a smooth, sharp outcropping of rock.

"Look out." The wolf in front of you raises their tail, signalling you to be wary. As you follow their gaze, your jaw drops. The ground here abruptly tumbles down into a cave about five wolf-lengths below. If you had fallen, you may have been impaled on stalagmites, which tower over a soft dirt floor. Had there been a cave-in here?

As you look, you notice that further into the cave nests have been constructed. On a higher outcropping of rock, the pack leader is lounging with her mate. Were you supposed to see this--? Your guide grins in amusement.

"You're right to be nervous - it is a privilege to be allowed here. This is the Raised Teeth, where our honored make their dens."
