Glacier Warriors
North is calling...
The far North is known for its cruelty and inhospitality. But here some chosen, the strongest spirits can find their true home. And so it is with the Glacier Warriors.
Since the old days when the first wolf set paw on this frozen land of lichen, ice, carmine berries and crooked birches, the grey raven of fate has uttered a prophecy that a pack will appear to guard the Sacred Glacier, and that when the hour comes, the Great Spirit Themselves will descend onto it and melt the permafrost, and turn the North into a blooming garden.
Since then, wolves have reigned over the enchanted forest, the tundra, and the icy shores of the Last Sea.
The Great Spirit is the God of the wolves and of every creature, great and small, animate and inanimate of these lands.
The Moon is the source of energy and life of the spirits; manages wolves' life cycles.
The Sacred Glacier is the magical centre of the North, the isolated temple of the Great Spirit.
Glacier Warriors inhabit a gigantic granite cavern embedded into a huge block of white ice. Inside, wolves lie on nests of pelts and lichens; puppies play around; secret niches hide a treasure and food storages.
On the wall hangs a huge tusk of a mammoth on which the prophecies of the Great Spirit are carved by an unknown ancient paw. If squint, one can see red-blood paw imprints painting the walls and even the ceiling; that is the blood of the first ever defeated bear celebrated by the ancestors. A magic portal is hidden in the ice of the cavern, thanks to which the wolves can instantly travel to distant lands, always, however, keeping loyalty to the North.
On the shore of the Last Sea lies the huge skeleton of a blue whale washed up by the numerous waves. It was there, on the first day of Summer, when the young wolves of the Rising Prophecy gathered to see off their ancestors and leader, the Great Elder, to the Land of Infinite Hunt. And white lightning fell from the sky and set a driftwood on fire, and a funeral pyre soared up. All the wolves howled, and so the new era of the North dawned.
Winter Moon Day is the day a wolf dies.
Red Moon Day is the day a wolf meets his or her Mate.
Summer Moon Day is the day a puppy is born.
Blue Moon Day is the day when the Moon magic pours out of the Glacier and everything changes, new wonders and dangers are revealed.
Land of Infinite Hunt — it is said that a wolf there never goes hungry, never gets tired, and is surrounded by his or her family and their favourite things.
Rising Prophecy is the young wolves who will take the place of the departed elders.
All Glacial Warriors believe in the guarding, protective and energising power of amulets and sigils, and so they are in constant seeking of new artefacts. The pack Leader visits the Ting every day, a spot in a circle of huge ancient boulders where the animals and spirits of the glacial fields, tundra and enchanted forest exchange their wares and finds.
Glacier Warriors vigilantly guard their territory from enemies and evil spirits, welcoming light cryptids of the North and good birds that bring them news. But annulaks and killer whales are the Pack's mortal nemesis, and always will be.
The shaman of the pack can see, sing, and hear the truth, read the signs of the Great Spirit, and pass on the wisdom of the North to the younger generation.
The tribal elders teach the young wolves about prey and survival.
Scouts walk the land every day guarding and exploring the biome's territory. They can read the guiding landmarks in the Northern Lights and therefore always find their way back home.
The herbalist of the pack is often a traveling wolf or exile of another clan, dedicated to the mysteries of nature. He or she always takes the name of the First great healer, Reindeer Moss, renouncing their own past and often refusing mating.
The leader of the pack, an adept of the late great Elder, may also be a wandering wolf, if the Great Spirit chooses him.
Thus the wolves of Glacier live each day in harmony with the elements. Destiny awaits...
