Welcome to Pearl River
You had only taken a few steps into the treeline when you were approached by a rather large wolf, the fresh scent of pine clinging to his fur as he seemed to study you.
"Hello," he greeted, his tail wagging slowly. "I've been expecting you, traveller. I am Agate, Leader of the Pearl River Pack."
He took a step closer.
"Welcome to our territory," he began. "Our pack welcomes all those who wander, and our resources are plentiful, so we are more than happy to share as long as you respect our pack and our land."
The deep green wolf turned back in the direction from which he came, beckoning for you to follow.
"Follow me," he instructed, "we have a bit of a walk ahead of us. On the way, perhaps you could share some tales from your journeys? I'm afraid that my duties here mean that I don't get to roam as much as I once did, but stories can help quell the wanderlust."

Territory
The Pearl River Pack resides in the Pearl River Nature Reserve. The pack claims much of the reserve's taiga as their territory, as well as a small mountain range and a section of the pack's namesake river.
History
The Pearl River Pack was originally founded by Nina who, along with her mate, Slate, devoted herself to watching over and defending her pack and packmates all the way from her young adulthood, to the moment the Ancestors called her back to them. Under Nina's guidance, the pack numbers swelled, but prey was plentiful and no wolf ever went hungry.
At the time of Nina's passing, her chosen heir–Margo–was still too young and inexperienced to lead, so Nina's eldest daughter–Ember–stepped up instead, taking leadership so that her sister would not have to worry about running the pack while still learning how to be an adult. Ember never desired leadership, she had always made that much very clear, but her love for her family and her pack outweighed her personal desires, and she soon proved herself to be the resilient, strong, and fair leader that the Pearl River Pack needed during their darkest time.
After Ember passed, Margo finally took her rightful place as Pack Leader. Due to her young age at the time of her ascension to leadership, many other packs whispered about Pearl River's "pup leader," but as the seasons changed, Margo slowly but surely proved herself to be a devoted leader, ushering in an era of untold prosperity.
Just as day turns to night, the sun eventually set on Margo's reign, with her son–Agate–taking her place. However, a severe prey shortage mere moons into his reign meant that the new leader was immediately being put to the test without even being given the opportunity to settle into his role. Though the first several moons were difficult, the pack persevered. Prey eventually returned to the Taiga, and soon the empty bellies of moons past were all but memories.
Initially, Agate's son Conifer was set to succeed his father. However, the young wolf soon realized that he was quite content with his life as it was, and instead entrusted Cedar–the son of Agate's littermate, Indigo–with the position of Leader. The decision surprised the pack members, and none were more shocked than Cedar himself who, unlike Conifer, had not grown up being trained for leadership. Though it is too soon to say, the general consensus seems to be that Cedar will either flourish as Pack Leader, or flounder.

- Respect the Pack Leader: The Pack Leader must be respected by all members. Others may give opinions on a Leader's decisions but, ultimately, their word is law
- No Fighting Within the Pack: In order to maintain the harmony and unity of the pack, any conflicts or disagreements must be resolved peacefully, without resorting to physical violence. If the wolves involved are unable to resolve their issues themselves, then an unbiased packmate may be called in to mediate
- Provide for the Pack: It is the responsibility of all pack members to contribute to the welfare and survival of the pack. This includes providing food, protecting the territory, mentoring young pack members, and caring for the young and/or injured
- Protect All Pups: No wolf may neglect a pup in pain or in danger, regardless of said pup's origin
- Respect Borders: Outside of emergencies, no wolf may cross another pack's border without prior permission
- Protect the Territory: All wolves of the Pearl River Pack are expected to confront any outsiders they find within the pack's borders. Do not fight if it is not necessary to do so, but do not allow strangers to roam the territory unchecked either
