Biography
Snow that Melts on the Fur
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
I was wandering through a forest engulphed with flame, the ground covered with soot and flaming branches while the sky was stained with ash rising from the flames. I ran around, every breath a burden... suddenly pain shot up one of my legs and when I looked down I saw a flaming branch. licking my paw, I looked up and saw that all the shapes were beginning to to become fuzzy... as if I was witnessing the border between consciousness and dream. The last thing I remembered was my legs buckling and my body landing with a thump on the charred ground. Everything went pitch black. Not a noise, not a scent, not a sight.
Is this the end?
Then I saw a flicker. It wasn't much, just the weak start of a flame. Alarm shot through me, but was quickly soothed. The flame was calling me, it was nothing like the ferocious fire in the waking world but more like the warmth of a freshly killed squirrel. I slowly approached the light until I heard a slithering sound from behind me. But it was to late. A vine had wrapped around my back leg. This wasn't any vine though, it radiated with hate and and was wrapped with tendrils of darkness. Another came and wrapped around my front leg, then another on my stomach picking me up. One by one, the vines covered me up like a cocoon, blocking out the warmth of the fire with an unnatural sensation of hatred and anger... A voice echoed in my mind. There is darkness coming, like a night of no stars. Only the brightest light, one of hope and compassion can guide the world to the sun, to Ra.... Then there was nothing.
I woke up and saw a fuzzy black shape looming over me. Shaking my head, I stood up, only to fall down again.
"Woah there, keep still, don't want to pass out again do you?"
I looked up again and my vision cleared. A black wolf was leaning over me, gentling groom my burns. Every rasp stung and I resisted the urge to flinch. Battling with my scorched limbs, I managed to sit up without toppling over. The black wolf cocked her head at me, as if she was seeing me for the first time. I followed her gaze and saw the ugly burn on my left-front paw. self-consciously, I began to lick the wound, and the black wolf chuckled.
"What's your name sweetheart?"
I stopped licking. How did i forget to ask?
"uh... S-Snow... what about yours?"
"I'm Tala, nice to meet you, Snow."
Soon after Tala and I started mingling and the awkwardness between us began to fade. Tala explained that she was rescuing wolves from the fire and helping them start their new packs.
"Everyone else had already left. You were the last to wake up." she said.
Snow stood up, wobbly. It hurt to but weight on her paw so she limped.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Snow said, excitedly.
"I'm just finishing up a burn poultice, sit down and I'll put it on you leg."
Obeying, Snow sat down and watched Tala carefully spread the chunky mixture on her leg. The juice seeped into her wound, making it feel three times better.
"Thank you, Tala." Snow said, gratefully.
"No problem! Now we can go make you pack, that burn will heal up quickly." she replied.
Snow and Tala trekked for awhile, and made it to a cliff.
"Here you can see three different biomes, the mountain, the grasslands, and the forest, which one would you like to settle in?" Tala questioned.
"Um... The mountains might be to dangerous and the forest reminds me of that fire... so I'll choose the grasslands!" Snow decided.
"Okay, you can walk down there, " Tala said, "You can always change your biome, but you will have to defeat wolves in the biome so your pack has enough territory." she added.
Snow nodded and started the trek to the grasslands. After a day of scenting, hunting, and battling, Snow had found a territory worthy of a pack. Tala, who was following her the whole way congratulated her.
Snow quickly started her pack, recruiting different wolves, breeding, chasing...
