Luin's earliest pack memories are dull and fuzzy to him. Cast out of his pack as soon as he was old enough to fend for himself, Luin grew up knowing what it was like to be completely alone. He found himself being chased out of every territory he dared to set paw in, and he wandered aimlessly through many unfamiliar lands.
Finally, after a year of wandering, Luin reached a small, quiet mountain forest. There seemed to be no signs of the territory being claimed by a pack, so Luin chose to rest his weary bones in the safety of the forest.
It was Luin's dream to someday lead a pack of his own-- a pack that would never turn away from any lost creature, a pack that would be his family. It was not long before his dream started to creep ever closer to being a reality.
Luin found Fang, a lone wolf only a year or two older than himself, trying to steal from his prey stash. He did not hesitate to give Fang the food he needed, as well as offer him a place in his den. Fang slowly began to adjust to sharing a den with Luin, and the two became inseparable.
That was only the beginning of the pack, which they named the Green Wood Pack after the forest Luin found refuge in, and slowly they added new members to the close-knit family.
It was a year later that Luin met the love of his life. He was exploring the outskirts of his forest when he found her. The red wolf was huddled against the side of the tree, injured, and trembling from exposure to the springtime sleets. His initial attempt at inviting the wolf to escape the storm and join his pack was rebuffed. Even with all his wit and charm, Luin could not convince the she-wolf to come with him-- not even for the sake of a dry bed and fresh meat. After a week's time, the she-wolf was too sick to survive, and after more encouragement from Luin she agreed to shelter with Luin's pack until she regained her strength.
Not a day went by that Luin did not come to visit Caraniel personally. Some days, she would tell him stories about her home over the mountains. Luin would listen to her speak well into the small hours of the night. Her accented voice slowly began to enchant him-- slowly, he began to long for Caraniel's love and companionship. His whole pack could abandon him for all he cared, as long as Caraniel would promise to stay by his side.
Slowly the years stretched onward. Green Wood Pack flourished under the watchful, loving eyes of Luin and Caraniel. To this day, Luin believes that this pack, his legacy, will last for generations to come. So long as he lives, he will never let the pack crumble, and will never turn away from a lost wolf-- will never turn away a wanderer like he was so many years ago.
