This wolf is currently on a pair bond cool down for 14 rollovers! He can't form a new pair bond until then! This wolf is actively pupsitting - his energy regeneration is paused. This wolf has not rolled over today and will not be able to be traded or gifted until its next rollover.
The patchy wolf takes slow steps across the clearing. As usual, a pup circles his feet, impeding meaningful forward movement. However, one could not differentiate between this pace and his typical gate, for Akiak typically trails even the eldest of wolves. But today, he blames it on the pups rather than his penchant for not doing much.
Akiak finds great purpose in nurturing the youth. Though not your typical pupsitter, for the snowy wolf is not a she-wolf, any mother would find great joy in knowing he tends carefully to their pups. He in particular prefers two different stages of puppyhood specifically; when pups murmur, eyes and ears closed, at the belly of their mother, and the other being when they are keen to discover a world outside of the clearing. Today, he has the challenge of managing both extremes.
The seal brown pup bouncing at his paws reaches up and noses the corner of Akiak's jaw. Akiak looks down. "You are much too old for that," he mutters. The pup relents with a huff, instead snatching at the crystal pendant slung around his pupsitter's neck. Akiak pauses and nods towards the supply stores. "Shall we gather more bedding for the newborn's nest?" he questions. The pup eagerly joins in.
The two collect wares, and the pupsitter and pup make their way down the cliffside path to the cave. Akiak, mouth full of soft grass, watching the young wolf pick its way down. Pathfinding is the very first test for a Dark Isle pup - and simply put, failure means death. All must leave the cave from which they were born somehow, and even these newborns will have to face this challenge at some point.
The merle wolf slinks into the warm, dark den. The mewling pups are hidden beneath the chest of their mother, who is desperate for a break. Silently her and Akiak exchange places with a knowing glance. She is tired, and he is happy to help. Even the older pup is calmed by the hush of a birthing nest, where he curls in between the front legs of the pupsitter. Always a pup beneath the feet, Akiak smiles, overlooking his little pack. He is happy here in the dark den, for the slow wolf has always loved a good rest.
