The woods are dark and unrelenting. As you fight your way through the thick brush, your eyes scan the forest floor with each hard-won step, and you suddenly notice a trail carved faintly into the ground. A glimmer of hope arises, maybe now you might finally escape this oak labyrinth. The path leads you down twists and turns until you find where the thicket meets an open clearing, however your relief is fleeting. There are two things that immediately draw attention; the salty, cold winds that whip your face, and the persistent lack of light. Here, the sun is hidden behind a swath of dark clouds, much like you as you hesitate behind the ancient oaks that border the clearing. One might predict a strong storm on the horizon.
You see the clearing is in fact an expansive cliff that is hugged by an angry ocean swelling and churning beneath. Shale boulders protrude like monoliths that have been here long before you and I walked this earth. The uneven terrain is decorated by a soft sea grass, blown flat by the breeze. Gulls squall above, riding the incoming storm's winds. Their cries are lost to the roar of the ocean as it bites at the cliff's rocky edge.
After assessing this dark isle, you move forward from behind the safety of the forest. A pair of bright green eyes flicks your way - unbeknown to you, there is life here, the kind that has existed for enough time that coats adapt to the shade of the terrain. The wolf approaches you with an air of self-assurance, but her ears give away a blend of both curiosity and disdain. Emhyra stands a distance from you, lip turned up. "We do not often receive visitors in this land…".
