Resident Herbalist of Dark Isle

Khorvine finds much joy in the alone. Though the pack is strong and the blood runs deep here, she has simply preferred the company of herself. She has always been this way since a pup - as others learned to tussle and flush prey as a group, she'd instead find herself drawn to the small parts of life outside of these lessons. The wilted petals of a daisy, ants digging a tunnel, beautiful feather of a jay. In a stroke of luck for Khorvine, the elderly pupsitter assigned to monitor the pups her age was long ago a respected Herbalist. The grey muzzled she-wolf noted Khorvine's intense curiosity and carefulness, and mentored the pup in the use of flora to craft salves and medicines. Quickly the pup became just as proficient as the old master.
The jet black wolf shakes her mane, the memory flashing through her mind. She looks about the clearing. The pack is occupied by a large elk-carcass - this is a perfect distraction. Even more. there is a break in the wind today, which makes it a good afternoon to forage. Khorvine quietly slips from the cliff and paces down the slope, gathering speed. It is a beautiful day to stretch the legs.
The sun has climbed the horizon and casts warmth about the isle. There is a beach a far distance from the pack's home, but the trek can be made in a half-morning's time. Khorvine likes this place. It is quiet, and the materials she can forage here are rare and useful. Many are washed up from the angry sea, hidden within piles of driftwood. Terns cry above, sandpipers rush back and forth as water laps at the edge of the beach. It is a wonderful escape.
Khorvine begins to gather a variety of goods. In particular, she is waiting the next Lunar event, in which the sands glitter with bioluminescent algae blooms. There is much research to be done. Lightly gripping a sprig of buckthorn, she carefully pulls the entirety of the plant from the warm ground. All of a plant can be useful, if one knows how. Lost in the peace of it all, Khorvine is badly startled as a young red wolf clumsily trips over driftwood. "Miss Khorvine! Wait for me! Wait!" The apprentice thunders up to the quiet wolf, panting, eyes sparkling with adventure. It's a long way from the den. "Whatcha doin!?"
