Peri

His name comes from Periwinkle, a type of blue. As he noticed his pack getting bigger, he decided to stop burdening them, setting out on his own to learn the answer as to how he became moon-touched in the way he did. He was given a Blue Jay Feather by his home pack for good luck.

Rules:
- Keep him for 5-7 rollovers, then pass him on ONLY through The Traveling Den.
- Add accessories+markings, don't remove them.
- No pack bonds, sex changes, or changing his name!
- I'll recall him when he turns 6 years and 6 months!

Lore: Leaves fell as Peri left the familiar oak and aspen forest of his home. The sun was high but a chill autumn breeze blew, carrying new and delicious scents to him. As deciduous gave way to pine, Peri found himself shivering. Where had the sun gone? And how was it that clouds came to be floating lazily next to him? Suddenly frightened Peri bolted. Racing through the trees without any regard to where he placed his paws, he had to get out. "KrAaAaw!" A large blue and black bird irrupted in front of Peri, halting his frantic clambering. Heart still pounding Peri scowled up at the bird, now sitting peacefully above his head, but as his eyes traveled back down to earth he noticed that bird had stopped him just in time. The forest had opened up to a large glittering lake, light blue flowers bloomed all around. Peri gazed in awe then stiffened at the sight of a wolf resting beside the water, she had been watching him but warmth showed in her azure eyes. "I see you have come in search of something yet it's not here I'm afraid." The she wolf said suddenly, getting to her paws to pad over to Peri. They chatted for a while by the lake until stars begun to appear. "You said your name was Periwinkle? Well that's also a type of flower you know. Like these little Forget-me-nots here." The she wolf known as 松北 Matsukita finally said, ripping up a whole plant and placing it before Peri, "Take some, they may help you find what your looking for. Plants, especially flowers, are known to keep memories." As Peri pawed them closer he thought could feel a strange tingling sensation run through him but quickly dismissed it, distracted by 松北 Matsukitas next words as she pad off, "You may also stay a while before moving on. I shall tell my pack of your arrival."

Lore: A few moons had passed before Peri continued on his journey in search of his answers. The air was warm and the snow was beginning to melt as he traversed from the dense pines into wide expanses of open land with cascading hills and a mountain looming beyond. His travels landed him among the pack of Perseids Eclipse. "You seek answers to your moon touched gifts," Athenari spoke cooly, the spring breeze lifting her white fur. "Look to the stars for the answers, they will guide you." Peri lifted his gaze, the setting sun giving way to the wide expanse of twinkling stars in the sky. Athenari guided him in meditation, to quiet his mind and allow the words of the stars to speak to him. His eyes shot open, shock and surprise overwhelming him and Athenari smiled. "I see you have been given a part of your answer, go along, find what you seek." At the sun's first light, Peri set off, seeking more answers to his burning questions.

Lore: Peri finally made his way to a large deciduous forest. The sun was just starting to rise, the starry sky he used in his travels beginning to give way to bright oranges and yellows as the sun appeared on the horizon. It was summertime and the heat was already becoming apparent with the approach of the day. The sounds of insects could be heard all through the trees. Peri found himself in the home of the Starshade Pack, a large clearing in the forest with a few large dens made from the hollowed out bases of large oak trees. Peri told the Alpha, Merida of his journey and Merida happily offered to help him learn more about his moon touched traits. He met with Seabreeze who had been blessed with her mother's spectral fur. She told Peri about visions and spirits that she's seen at night. She could swear she heard some of their voices before. Perhaps when the next night came, Peri might find himself with a spirit guide who might give more of the answers he sought. And so Peri set out one step closer and with some new wisdom to try to learn more of his moon touched origins.

Lore: During his travels, Peri found himself in the Dreamlands, where he met Freyja as they were both sheltering from the crackling blue arcs of a lunar storm. The storm passed almost before it started, but the charge remained with Peri, surrounding him in a perpetual halo of lunar energy!

Lore: I put it in a spoiler bc I wrote a lot again…feel free to change LoreAs Peri traveled on, his mind whirled with unanswered questions so he didn't noticed when he stepped into familiar territory until a patch of bright blue flowers caught his eye. There were forget-me-nots like the ones he had been given so long ago. I must be in the pines of the Juniperwake he thought to himself. Padding along he easily made his way to the inner lake but was surprised to see many new pelts. From the shore Peri searched for the green and black pelt of his friend, 松北 Matsukita, but she wasn't there. Tired and feeling lost, Peri bowed his head and stared at the dark water surrounding the island, stars twinkling on the surface. The sight made Peri want to jump in. Maybe…just maybe if I jump in… But his thought was abruptly cut off as the face of 松北 Matsukita floated up from the depths. Startled, Peri jumped back but the apparition was still coming, stepping from the lake she shook out her pelt but no water dripped from her and instead her pelt was flecked with stars and shone with moonlight. Excited and relieved Peri began rambling on, "松北 Matsukita! Your here! I was worried I wouldn't see you. And your pelt…it's different." But 松北 Matsukita just waited patiently until Peri had to stop to catch his breath. Chuckling 松北 Matsukita looked up at the night sky, "Peri, you know right?" But the look on his face told her he still had many many questions. "Ah, I see your still on your journey. But my have you grown." Her eyes shone with pride "I've died Peri. Look, there's the new lead now. They can't see me, only you. I told you flowers hold memories yes? Well for us they're also a connection to the stars. To our ancestors, our loved ones, and all that came before." Peri looked startled and his heart broke for his friend, but he felt he was beginning to understand. This pack like his own had a strange connection to the sky, as did others, but each was also unique. These wolves could evidently talk to their dead though the use of flowers and the reflection of stars on their lake home made it seem like they never left. They were always with them, protecting and guiding. Dawn was soon coming and Peri could see 松北 Matsukitas outline beginning to fade, it was time to move on again. But first he would visit the Juniperwake again to see all the new faces. Saying farewell to his friend but knowing they would see each other again Peri pad on, and as he did so bright blue berries began growing where flowers had once been. It was a stage of life, a new beginning.

Lore: Peri recognized these woods. The sights and smells were familiar to him. There was a sudden joyous bark from not too far off that startled Peri, making him spin around suddenly, alert.
"Peri!!" The familiar voice shouted. He was greeted with friendly nuzzles and licks from Seabreeze. He recognized her scent in an instant.
"Seabreeze, you're here! I thought this place seemed familiar, hi!" Peri barked, delighted to see his friend again as well.
Both their tails wagged happily and Seabreeze gave a happy woof in reply. "It's good to see you! Glad to see you've been keeping well!"
"I'm glad I get to see this place again. With everyone's connection to the moon here, I feel like I'm sure to get closer to more truth about myself," Peri said, gazing at the sun that has already started setting beneath the trees.
"You're in luck, because nighttime is when the fun begins," Seabreeze woofed cheerily, moving further into the forest. Peri remembered the lunar phenomena he encountered during his last stay and looked to see what they might find this time around.
A lunar mist began to coat the base of the forest and Peri saw a lunar robin come out as darkness fell, its cries echoing through the trees. The feathers glowed with blue lunar energy and its eyes swirled with spectral power. Peri felt the lunar energy surrounding him resonate with the bird and suddenly its calls sounded understandable.
"You've been blessed by the moon, young one. Carry that blessing with pride, the moon will never do you wrong," the robin's voice resounded in his head. Peri looked stunned and shook his head and a moment later, the robin was simply chirping normally. Did he just hear that or was it something he imagined?
"Peri, are you okay? You seemed to space out for a minute," Seabreeze said, worry in her tone.
"Yeah I'm fine, sorry. Thought I heard something. Let's go back to the pack, I want to say hi to everyone in Starshade!" Peri barked, shaking his head once more. He decided he might never know if what he heard was real or not, but that was okay. He'd carry the memory with him along his journeys in the future.
