Mingxuan-Jiang

Mingxuan-Jiang (姜明萱, pronounced: jiāng míngxuān) was born in a well-known pack, one that cultivated its members. Most young wolves left to join packs from distant lands, and from birth, she was destined to be one of them. Until she wasn't.

On a warm winter day, she went out to train with several older pups. She stalked a bird for hours, but when she finally caught it and returned to show the others, they were gone. Confused, she waited. The sky darkened, and the birds in the trees grew quiet. No one came for her. In the early morning, she began to wander, trying and failing to sniff her way back to the den. She conjured scenarios for why they had left her behind. She forced herself to believe they'd find her, then argued with her own thoughts, then finally settled on the cold acceptance that she was alone. And if the white wolf hadn't passed when she did, nudging Mingxuan and leading her to the House, Mingxuan might have laid down there forever.

Upon reaching the House, Mingxuan vowed that nothing like that would never happen again. She trained and shadowed hunts until birds were easy prey. She learned to read signs in the woods so she would always find her way back to the pack. She spoke with every wolf, making sure they knew her and she knew them, so that they would notice if she ever went missing. In time she became an established hunter and a confident leader that many wolves looked up to, and she raised pups with Hawthorn that she never, ever left unattended. And over the years, the fear of being abandoned faded...
