Biography
Daewn was raised in an evil pack. They hurt other wolves, didn't care for their young, and maintained a "survival of the fittest" mentality she didn't approve of. When she met a wandering wolf named Coyle she decided to leave with him and leave her past behind. They set off across the globe, recruiting wolves and building an army to protect their borders in case her old pack ever came raiding. Extremely dedicated to each other, Daewn and Coyle are mates for life and refuse to be romantically involved with any other wolf. While Daewn leads the pack as Alpha King, her Lord Luno Coyle acts as the pack's chaser, running prey down and keeping mouths fed. He got so used to chasing his eccentric mate around that he became one of the fastest wolves around. Together they are determined to raise Beastenguard to glory.
However, good things don't last forever. They were growing old, and no amount of time in the world would satisfy the two. Soon death would claim them, and Daewn couldn't accept that. There was still so much to do, to see. Pups to pass her smarts onto, other packs to make alliances with. She couldn't die, not now. She began investigating ways of prolonging her life for good. She learned that there was a pool of jellyfish that granted everlasting life, but there were drawbacks. While you could choose to give up immortality at any time and revert back to how you were last, it changed you in more than just physical. You couldn't eat. Couldn't sleep. Couldn't get sick, feel pain, make love, have children… anything. You were just frozen in time, forever. Daewn wanted to live, not to survive. So she worked harder than ever before, using the last of her willpower even on her deathbed to find a way to escape the grasp of death. What if she split her soul into two? One version of her would reincarnate forever, growing up, growing old, alive and well with her pack. The other would be frozen, living in a cave in the high mountains above her pack, a place that was too dangerous for mere mortals to venture. Her young soul would be what her pack needed: a living, breathing, warm body to guide them with only her latest life experiences on her mind. The other would maintain all of her memories and act as a sage of sorts to keep the pack protected for all of eternity. There was a cost, though.
Three sacrifices. In order to commit to this curse her original body would be destroyed. This would be the only time she would need to ruin her flesh in order to start the reincarnation cycle. Her original form would vanish, unable to join the Dynasty and remain in the Ancestry Pool. The second was that each life cycle she would have to pick a wolf to erase so that their body could remain uninhabited. While her original body would remain destroyed, the process would naturally repeat itself as if on a loop and leave future bodies unmarred. The third would be her new form, a young wolf she could possess for all eternity. Strong enough to defeat any foe, and with little experience so that she could fill its brain with each of her life cycles.
Daewn thought long and hard on this long after she figured out this method. She almost didn't do it. But as her teeth fell out and Coyle's heart grew slower and slower each night she made her decision. She would pick wolves with no pack, no history, and with no hesitation on her part. She would pick those that had been outcasted, that only thought of themselves, that weren't needed in this world. There were plenty to choose from; with all of her alliances she knew of tons of wolves that were forced to make a new start because of their horrific behavior. She settled on two that had recently come into a pack and then were immediately exiled because of her behavior. The first wolf was much younger and stronger than her so she set a trap. The foolish wolf had no pack to run to her rescue, no one to care about her untimely demise. The second was much more clever but not as powerful. That one was much harder to trick, but after injuring her target all the smarts in the world could not help her escape her pursuer. With the two wolves captured all she had left to do was complete the ritual. If it worked, she would be split in two and be both mortal and immortal simultaneously. If it didn't she would die, but at least she tried to be with Coyle forever. If she could pull this off she would repeat the process for him and then nothing could ever separate them again.
The method that Daewn used to defy nature so stubbornly is unknown, but what is known is that if you linger in the taiga early into the morning, just as the sun rises, you can hear the ancient wolf Daewnistaria howling in anguish over her sins, and her mate Coyle Hunters consoling his beloved beau.
Interaction Logs:
7/24/23 - Yin successfully wiggled out from under Daewn's paws. Daewn was very proud, even if later her ankles had to endure excited puppy gnaws.
11/1/23 - You hear your pack howling together in the distance. Something must have started them off.
11/2/23 - You walk, and walk, and walk, and briefly wonder how many steps you've ever walked in your life. And walk.
11/3/23 - Just keep walking! Just keep walking! Just keep walking, walking, walking. What do we do? We walk, walk, walk. Ho ho ho ho!
1/6/24 - A crow caws in the distance. It sounds like it reached all four corners of the world.
1/8/24 - You stop to inspect a pebble. Does this spark joy? No, moving on.
1/12/24 - A porcupine waddles by in front of you. Spiky! You move on quickly.
1/22/24 - A soft hooting noise sounds out just above you. You look up and spot a boreal owl, staring down at you with large eyes from its perch on a branch. You step back and howl, letting out a deep, woeful song. The owl hoots a few times and flaps its wings, dropping a feather for you like a flower for a talented artist.
1/23/24 - During the lesson: Lady Airam listened carefully to Daewn's lecture about how biting and tussling aren't allowed during teamwork. That was a bit disappointing, but Lady Airam was ready for the hard work.
Daewnistaria pushes something in your direction, ordering you to take it. The gift and their attitude are so contradictory that you're not quite sure what to make of it.
