Breeding Terminology for Future Reference - A Proposal

No one is pushing the terms onto players. You came on to these these threads pushing clean and dirty yourself, and to voice how you "don't think the new terms are going to work", its kind of hypocritical. I can guarantee that most players don't care if people use Clean and Dirty VS NIB and IB, and no one is being attacked. We're just having a casual conversation about terms we could use if we don't like Clean and Dirty. |

I don't think I was pushing anything. If so, can you show me where/tell me why you think that? Also, I'm allowed to make predictions about how I think the heritage market will shake out. One of those predictions is that I don't think certain terms will stick for this or that reason. No one is being attacked. |

I understand and agree with a lot of that Jax! Although as clean and dirty became such a popularly used term it became impossible to avoid it on LD and players who weren't actively using it would be asked if their lines were dirty, or refused breedings because their lions were ''dirty''. Many would eventually be pushed into using it, or used it for the sake of sales, while they themselves weren't fond of it. I do not blame anyone for this though, it just became such a big thing! Although I think specifically referring to those terms was necessary, as it would draw discussion to both sides of the coin and also make people consider a wider variety of aspects :D Players who previously used those terms would also recognise them and already have opinions on them to discuss. Inbreeding also has much more of an effect on gameplay and so the topic needed an updated insight and therefore the most commonly used terms would naturally get involved whether or not they were the point of discussion. I don't think anyone is trying to completely disregard any previously used terms, just trying to explain their view, now that they have the chance to. |

I think it probably came across as a little pushy as you were specifically calling it out as icky, saying that you wouldn't ever do that, specifically picking out the dirty connotations and such, when it isn't necessarily that. While I personally understand that can be an effective way of describing, I can also see how it may be perceived as pushy. (Just trying to explain it somehow from a neutral view, I'm not sure if that helped explain it any better XD) |

Oh, I understand why some people wouldn't like it for those reasons. It was kind of surprising to me when clean lions begin to get an edge in the market. Didn't see that coming at all. Since inbreeding is more conducive to making muties, we may see the opposite on WD, who knows? Anyway, I stand by what I said. Inbreeding/Incest is Icky. If I, (as an irl person, not a gamer) knew I was related to someone even distantly it would be a resounding no. Inbreeding and Incest and anything surrounding it will be perceived in a certain light, especially if we add an incest counter. These points weren't necessarily geared towards the game, but general statements. I don't really think that's being pushy, especially since most people would agree that yes, Inbreeding IS icky. I would NOT be with someone I knew I was related to, even distantly, ect. Maybe I was unclear that I wasn't talking about the game, idk |

I think you're sounding pushy because every time someone explains to you why they prefer one term over another, or just to explain their playstyle you rebut with negativity. Why ask if you don't want to know? It's just very odd to me. |

I can literally google your two cents Jax. And get multiple results because I found it searching the terms to find out what it meant on LD years ago. I am tired of reading your side honestly. We all know it because you have stated it multiple times. Repetition is not always the way to convince others of your point. I don't think you come from a malicious place, but I also don't think you understand when to stop either. The drama around 'your' terms are enough of a reason for me to want to avoid them, this is a new site. I don't want the teenage angst garbage fire that is LD drama here. Then I have a personal preference on words. I will be using my word replacer extension to not see the terms you propose using. I suggest anyone else who enjoys curating their own online experience like I do add a similar extension themselves. It does what it says on the tin. I'm out, you guys go too fast for me to keep up. Any fellow canine breeding enthusiasts can feel free to add me. My project will be pretty easy to check, I'll be keeping a manual 'lineage book' for my pack, if you want for future outcrossing! |

I've been very understanding to everyone's explanations, I think. Guess we'll have to agree to disagree *shrug* Anyway, like I said, you do you Siren. If you're not using it because of you're own comfort, that's great. 👍 As long as we're not bashing people who do use it, we shouldn't have any issues. |

I personally have found your tone to be derisive and overly defensive. You haven't seemed to take on board that we have differing opinions based on our backgrounds. I'm just a genetics nerd trying to find like-minded players to talk with. The simplification of the terms are to get across what is meant, without involving maths or algorithms. Multiple times it's been said that you can use whatever you want I don't want to start a fight over this, but I am so confused as to why you don't just ignore it, especially if you don't think it's going to take off. We can all agree to disagree. @UnheardSiren-That is incredibly awesome. I was wondering how difficult it would be to keep track of lines, and debating keeping a WD-specific notebook myself, haha. Might be a bit of a tangent, but I've kept and bred rats in the past, and it's wonderful when breeders pool together their resources and research. The advances in determining new coat colour genetics alone, in the past decade, has been really something to behold |

I don't think I was derisive at all or defensive at all. Just feels to me that I have an opinion different than the majority, so there's contention. It happens. Anyway, as the person who founded clean breeding, any discussion on the topic would naturally take take my interest, especially on a new game. Not...that I really have to justify commenting in a public forum lol Jason made a proposal. I'm responding to his proposal. Sorry If I came off as hostile, I like to be pretty frank when speaking. |
