Hands stuffed in his pockets, an inquisitive Kyle crept up to stand behind Raymond and the Headmasters as Ilia spoke. He'd gotten up early that morning, tending to mundane chores here and there as instructed of him. Pieces of straw clung to his disheveled hair, and he lifted a hand to give his dusty tunic an idle brush, peering past to catch a glance of the students gathered. He'd spotted them in passing last night as they arrived, but he'd been too preoccupied to truly get a look at them. Now that they were finally here, it seemed that there would lots more to do, and he couldn't help but stifle a sigh at the idea. It's fine... It's fine. This is what you signed up for after all! And hey, how bad could it be, when "more to do" included taking care of freaking dragons?! He glanced away from the students at that, gaze tilting upwards to follow the incredible beasts as they frolicked far up in the sky. That tense feeling arose in his chest, similar to when he'd first arrived- only a couple weeks ago- and laid his eyes upon the creatures for the first time. Perhaps a bit less panicked.. now that he'd had some time to adjust. Yet still, he wasn't sure he'd ever quite get used to the extraordinary presence of dragons. dragons. He let out a shallow breath, looking back down with a blink of his eyes. |

Byx had smiled, but he could see the distress swimming in their eyes. He didnt point it out in the moment, but he would be talking to them later. He sighed slightly, frowning. Should I even bring it up? What if that's overstepping the lines of our friendship. Are we even friends? He shook his head, pushing the thoughts away. Raymond looked behind him as Ilia introduced Kyle, dipping his head at the young man. He hadn't had a full conversation with him, he usually just spoke to him to give him tasks if needed. It worked, Raymond wasnt a very chatty person and Kyle didnt seem like someone who enjoyed talking to people. He turned back to the students, ready to get this over with so he could spend the rest of the day mostly alone. |

Hmph. They sank down to the ground, the exhaustion of the past few days catching up to them. They subconsciously reached into their pocket, withdrawing a small wooden dragon, chipped and weathered from time and love. They turned it over, inspecting the beloved item. After seeing real dragons the doll seemed so... bland. It did nothing to capture they majesty of the beasts. They gazed up once more watching the wyverns twist in the air, cracking their tails and roaring jubilantly. They seemed close, like family. They thought briefly of their own family back home, and how much they'd despise them for being here. It doesn't matter now. they told themself. They don't matter now. They shook themself out of these thoughts, their red hair flying about like a drying dog's. Aybis jerked back up to standing, waiting once more, trying not to be consumed by less pleasant thoughts. |

He gave a lazy wave as Ilia introduced him, the corners of his mouth quirking up into a crooked smile. His eyes darted to Raymond, returning the older man's brief greeting before he turned forward again. Kyle's gaze lingered for a moment, studying him. An intriguing person.. they hadn't spoken to each other terribly much, beyond small necessities. Raymond didn't seem like a particularly talkative individual, and Kyle had been a bit too stressed adapting to his new life to be making any friends just yet. Additionally, Kyle was trying his very best to be on his finest behavior. Which, for him, usually just meant clenching his teeth and holding his tongue, lest something irreversibly snarky slip out and ruin everything. However, now that he was settling in, getting comfortable, he couldn't help but feel.. restless. He slipped his free hand into his pocket again and rocked back on his heels, swallowing down another sigh. |

"You are hardly ready to take care of yourself, much less a powerful beast." She was so close. So close to snapping I can take of myself, old man! in a very low growl. You have no who I am. She exhaled sharply, crossing her arms. She did not look up at the dragons, not even when she felt their eyes. She glanced at the newcomer but then dismissed him almost immediately. "As Headmaster Arros said. Once you are ready, once the wyverns are ready, they will choose you. We can try and prepare you but it's not up to us in the long run, it's all on you." She usually didn't have favorite people (as she avoided them as a rule), but Nyx preferred Illia over Headmaster Arros. Why us? How did you know our names, where we lived? They seemed worried, as Nyx watched the former closely. They looked around with urgency. It made her defenses rise. Her arms lowered, and she reserved the impulse to look around, too. Where was her bow when she needed it? In her dorm, safely tucked away under waterproof coverings in a drawer. It made it no better when Headmaster Arros called his wyvern back. Cupping their hands around her ear made it possible to tell what they were saying, and the wyvern suddenly looked like she had a duty (if Nyx read the expression right). Her magnificent head swung back in forth, like Sage when she was hunting for the mouse that had escaped her talons. But was the dragon hunting for? Nyx refused to ask. If they thought it was dangerous, they would tell the students. Or would they? |

They immediately perked up at this news. A tour? They had to admit that at least a small part of them was eager to explore the grounds. They hadn't seen much yet, aside from some exotic and extreme cliffs on the way in. They hesitantly started towards the headmasters, glancing at the other students to see if they were doing the same. One of the dragons had seemingly flown off, much to their dissapointment. Atleast one had stayed though. I wonder what the school is like, they thought. They hadn't been to a proper school since long ago, when their father worked in the city. It had been one of the things they'd missed most when their family was forced out. They'd finally come into range of the headmasters, hanging back just a bit, in attempt to respect any personally bubbles. They could hardly wait to begin. |
