[Custom Decor] Custom Decor System Needs Reform

Posted 2024-09-16 18:39:56 (edited)
You're very welcome for the detailed feedback! I updated the original post with the tutorial feedback as requested in your original reply as well. I am hopeful that things will improve over time and I'm very thankful for any extra time you spend on those improvements.

Rejections can be frustrating especially when they are often inconsistent, but with more clear & concise rules and tutorials available, as well as the team being improved with your oversight over the next several months, hopefully we can all save time and frustration in the long run.

Most importantly, please do not feel rushed or pressured in any aspect of this process. I can't speak for everyone but I think most of us can agree that good things take time. I know you and your team are just people, not robots, and there is a massive workload on you all. You can only go one step at a time and that's okay! We will be very happy knowing that things are being worked on even if it takes time to reap the seeds that are sown.

Can we please have clarification on if we are now allowed to open a ticket about CD?  A lot of us have been specifically told we are no longer allowed to make a ticket about CD by admins themselves.  So for you to now say 'don't be afraid to', well tbh we are afraid to, because now we're getting two different answers.  Are you and modbox on the same page and will allow us to make a modbox without being turned away?

To deal with the worries about using modbox for CD-related questions, I think it would be super helpful to have a completely separate "Contact Us" page dedicated to contacting admins for info and clarifications on the CD creation process! That way modbox doesn't get flooded with questions and stuff about CDs, so moderators can focus on their work, and CD makers can have direct contact with the CD judges (or whatever they'd be called?) to ask questions and get any clarifications they need.

So for suggestions for Xylax I would suggest making the guideline png images, like the "lineart" (I know it's "not lineart" but it's the wolf image that's transparent and has no colour anywhere), available to everyone and not just photoshop users, would be great so everyone has the same chance and same tools at their disposal regardless of what programs they can afford to use

Paying 10 GC to submit a CD, getting one copy with only 2 uses, then earning 100sc when these 5 people buy it... I have so many CD ideas but this system is soooo off-putting

What? You get 3 copies with 10 uses?

Not to mention you are the one that sets the price too. If you're unhappy with it, you can increase it

Waited another 2 weeks. To get rejected AGAIN with more vague criticism that was only slightly more specific.

Fuck this bullshit. I don't have the fucking patience to wait 2 weeks between every single fucking rejection, just to get MORE unhelpful criticism.

Sure I guess the lineart isn't too thick anymore. Yet they're still complaining that "it's too pixelated", but also now both the lineart and the edges between each color are too pixelated. If the edges of the color areas were ALSO problematic, why didn't you fucking say so THE FIRST TIME, SO I COULD'VE MADE AN ATTEMPT TO FIX IT, THE FIRST FUCKING TIME?! And now my shading is "too subtle" all together, even though it was just the shading on the non-white parts that was "too subtle" the first time. How much darker do you want the shaded parts to be so they're no longer "too subtle"? Or do you want me to redo the shading all together, or something? Tell me what you fucking want, I physically and mentally CANNOT work with such vague critiques and instructions, I need you to tell me EXACTLY what you want, THE FIRST FUCKING TIME.

Can you tell I'm seriously fucking pissed to just get more extremely unhelpful criticism, when there's a two week period between each rejection, even more so after all the stuff that was said in this thread, in-between each of my rejections?

I fucking get it. The team that handle CDs is small, and there are a lot of CDs every week that need to be reviewed. And whenever you have to reject a CD, that's more CDs that you'll have to try and review next week, on top of whatever CDs get submitted throughout that next week. So getting through each submission, and each redo of each previously rejection submission, must take ages to complete. But you know, I wouldn't be so pissed about having to wait so damn long, if the critiques I got after the long wait was actually more helpful, and/or I had some means of directly asking for clarifications WHILE I try to fix the issues.

It would be a lot less frustrating if CD creators could actually ASK the CD team questions directly, instead of having to wait two weeks between each submission attempt to get any kind of response. Hell, maybe it could make your jobs even easier, as you'd be able to work with a creator until their CD is satisfactory, and then once they submit the changes, BOOM, after the edit timer's up, you can approve it right then and there, and that's one less submission you'd have to deal with, the following week.

To be fair, at least rejections are coming for most people within two weeks now.
Back when I first started playing, it could take 3 months.
End of last year it was around a month.
A month ago, mercurie and I waited 3 weeks for a rejection on one of ours.
2 weeks is a vast improvement over the historical waiting time, but due to the lack of clarity with the process it is certainly still frustrating, especially when new issues seem to pop up out of nowhere with each rejection.

Right, and I wouldn't mind the long wait nearly as much if the critiques I got in return were actually specific and helpful, instead of just vague as fuck.
