Mavis cocked her head at her wording, browns furrowing in a vague confusion. "See what's new?" She parroted back her words. "What do you mean? Did you live in town before? There's no way a cheetah could strut around such a small town and not draw attention." She hummed, leaning back in the chair she sat in and crossed her legs.

" I did. with my family and b.." she stopped before she could give her secret away. " But they are all gone" she lied only about her boyfriend. He wasnt gone at all. He was the hunter that  poisoned her and she would be the one to face him. " I.. gotta go deal with something. "

She got up and walked out the door in search of her  boyfriend. But he was at home.

"Ah, wait-" Mavis started as Jewel stood, sighing as she left faster than she could speak. "You really shouldn't push yourself." She grumbled in annoyance to the now still air. The woman seemed to be getting stranger and stranger and if she was being honest, she was running out of energy to ponder over what exactly was going on. Surely she could trust Jewel to stay safe after dusk, she must have been doing it for years after all. With an exhausted heave, she hauled herself to the small bathroom; taking the opportunity to wash up while she was alone.

Jewel  glared at Mavis " Im doing this for my own good, Mavis. I can handle things. Thanks for the help along the way.. ill be back  later..."

And with that she headed off to search for her hunter boyfriend and talk to him about their relationship. She would have to break up with him because it wasnt a healthy one and she just didnt feel right being with him.  Did Mavis know she was going back to her boyfriends house.. she hoped not. But she would just deal with whatever happened next. 

The time she had alone allowed her thoughts to run wild, much to her annoyance. Despite wanting to rest while she still had some piece, she continued to wonder about Jewel; what her past was like, why she had never met her before, what she was doing now. As Mavis thought about the last topic and left the bathroom, a nervous weight settled in her belly. She had seemed rather reckless so far and the young botanist doubted that she could forget the trap that wounded her rather dramatically. Silently, she hoped that the 'thing she had to deal with' would be something as simple as a walk and cause her no further harm. Settling in her bed, she concluded that she would give Jewel time to return on her own, opting to stay warmer with her now damp form.

But Jewel never did come back.... at least until midnight. She headed over to her  BF's house and talked to him about her feelings with him. it turned into a bad argument and  Jewel left feeling hot and angry 

" You dont understand what ive been thought, Kaleb.. you hurt me more than anyone in the whole village! I cant be with you any more. And dont come back to me with apologies"

And with that she  walked out his door with a slam and shifted into cheetah form and stayed in that form for a few hours before heading back to Mavis's house.

She was scratching at the door at ten past midnight. But wouldn't tell Mavis what happened. Yet.

Mavis awoke with a groan, having just nodded of by the time Jewel returned. However the repetitive, low scratching that came from her door tore her from the darkness behind her eyelids. Stumbling out of her bed, she sauntered towards her door and opened it, a little slow in her drowsy mind. It took her a moment to recognize the cheetah as Jewel and not some random cat, offering a small smile. "Welcome back." She mumbled, covering her mouth before she could yawn, eyes drifting over Jewel's form to check her for any notable injuries.

Jewel growled " Im fine" she then headed back into the house and didnt shift back to human form because she knew that if she did, she would be asked alot of questions. and she wasnt ready to answer them.
