Breeding Terminology for Future Reference - A Proposal

Posted 2020-10-11 21:57:02

Jaxhammer, I believe the discussion was to invite all sides of opinion, however, the OP still wanted to specifically discuss whether or not the old terms were outdated and so has to refer to them.

If you solely posted it for the point of being completely neutral then yes removing it would make sense.

However, I think that the OP did want that point to be addressed specifically and so it makes sense to have it in the original post.

That's fair. But if they're inviting all opinions, then there will be dissenting opinions eventually.

And those opinions should be engaged with in good faith. Just because we are disagreeing and I'm not sugarcoating everything I'm saying, doesn't mean I'm attacking you.

Jason Proposed new terms. My opinion of the terms is that on PA they wouldn't stick because of the sheer popularity and widespread use of clean of LD. People are already using clean on WD and have since it's opened. I'm allowed to give my predictions and why I predict something will happen just as much as any of the rest of you are.

And please trust me I'm not attacking you if I do it. If I attack someone, it won't be ambiguous.

Telling the OP how to reword their post and what terms they should and should not be discussing, and how they should or should not be discussing those terms in relation to the gameplay *they want* to talk about formulating with like-minded people, is not exactly ‘simply expressing’ an ‘opinion’. But you have very skillfully derailed the conversation to put the focus onto yourself and what you want and what you think, so if that was your goal, you’ve achieved it :)

But I can see this is probably going to go in circles so I'll restate my main points and be on my way.

- I don't think NIB or IB will last post PA. Clean breeding is deeply entrenched + popular and a good chunk of LDs population will come here and probaby bring clean with them.

- If you have a problem with CB and wish to use a new term, more power to you. Just keep your problems constrained to the terms; I promise the players that use them have no wish or intention to harm you by using them. If we could avoid another clean/dirty clash, that would be excellent.

- LB and all that other stuff requires people to google definitions. On top of not being dog breeders, folks are lazy lol. Simplicity is best; if I had to put my money on anything it'd be NIB or IB.

- NIB or IB sounds funny. Like a Mike Ikes or something.

- When I said "pushing" your terms, I was referencing someone in this thread linking to this (and other) NIB-favoring/other term favoring terms in my Clean Breeding Thread. Bit rude, imo, especially since we have established terms and don't need anymore (please, it's confusing enough as it is).

Aaaaand that's basically it. Welp, I'll get out of your hair. Resume conversing!

Jax, I never said you were attacking me. I've never directly opposed your opinions. I never even commented on the term sticking or not, I think you may be confusing my comments with the general consensus.

Now I’ll repeat what may have gotten lost above, which is that I am very interested in data collecting and the breeding mechanics of this game and  would be happy to participate in a fun, stress-free, non judgemental play style with like-minded people once the conversation gets back on track.

So anyway, this COI thing interests me. I'm not good with percentages and the like but I'd like to know more about it in general :)

I'll be doing NIB mostly, but I'll be looking into the other terms like linebreeding and outcrossing as well ^^

@doods I too am interested in the coi % I actually played a game that had that so I am slightly familiar with it as well as I will also be a NIb and a lineage breeder of which every lead is the offspring of the last and such

@ bonibaru

I agree :)

I do like looking at data that people collect so I'll be very interested in what people find out ^^

I do really like the "every lead is the offspring of the last" idea. That's been my process in games like this for a while.
