Golden Clovers
silence follows you as you enter the unfamiliar den.
"who are you?" she demands. another wolf, another female, nudges her aside.
"relax, xiuying." the other wolf says. her voice is soft and smooth, like sweet honey. "i doubt they mean any harm. i mean, look at them. they look as innocent as little le tao."
"le tao is anything but innocent." the first wolf - xiuying - shakes her head. "but whatever you say, kexing." xiuying steps back, allowing you to pass.
kexing smiles at you, all teeth. "i'm sorry about xiuying. she doesn't take very kindly to stran- le tao!" kexing lunges towards a red pup, who is dangling by the ceiling with one paw.
"what in god's name are you doing?" kexing growls, setting the pup onto the ground.
"i'm sorry." le tao grumbles, but her tail wags, indicating that she could not care less.
"well," kexing sighs. "enjoy your stay at our pack, i guess."
